Jets fans need to start rooting for the Patriots By Brian Costello November 22, 2017 | 2:21am Tom Brady and Bill Belichick talk during a recent practice. This may feel like rooting for higher taxes, a flooded basement and your car to break down, but Jets fans need to spend the next month pulling for … the Patriots. That’s right, get your avocado ice cream ready. You need to hope Tom Brady is in peak form to help the Jets get to the playoffs. In a schedule quirk, the Patriots have played just one divisional game so far — against the Jets. They face the Dolphins and Bills twice each over the next five weeks. That would be the same Bills (5-5) and Dolphins (4-6) the Jets are competing with for a wild-card spot. If the Patriots take care of business against those two teams, it will greatly increase the Jets’ chances of making the playoffs. So, Jets fans get your hooded sweatshirts on, put on your TB12 pajamas and root for the Evil Empire for a bit. Don’t worry, life can return to normal Dec. 31 when the Jets travel to Foxborough. If the Jets are playing for a playoff berth that day, you just might have Brady and Bill Belichick to thank.
Egg nog. Dammit, I knew I forgot to get something. "Jets are competing with for a wild card spot." har har har
Hey, even the Browns aren't eliminated yet, if 46 scenarios play out they are IN. Of course there is a 1 in a Quintillion chance of that happening so I'll just put down the egg nog now....
Luckily, you don't have to cheer for the Patriots. The Dolphins and Bills are pathetic, so the Pats will beat them down pretty easily. Common sense. The problem is the Jets are also pathetic, so don't expect any of those 3 teams to get a Wild Card spot.
I will never be able to cheer for the Patriots, especially in a crazy world where the Jets are viewed as playoff contenders. This is just an attempt to see how low we will go as a fan base. “Dance, rummy!”
More offended by the notion of not only us being a playoff team but that we’d be willing to sink to unthinkable levels as they relate to rooting interests as a fan base. Castillo knows better ..I hear his spots w. Joe & Evan all the time..he knows damn well Jet fans want legit sustained success & not a wildcard round quick exit which will sabotage precious draft position & possibly give this clueless ownership group yet another dose of false bravado just like Bowles first year. While I’m sure there are are plenty of jet fans individually who have occasional rooting interest in the patriots for whatever the reason..it hasn’t happened collectively since week 17 2003..and that was pre spygate..it’d take a long trail of circumstances for that to happen again;Certainly not the team’s current situation
The Ravens or Chargers(assuming they don't catch the Chiefs) will grab the 6 seed. The Jets are going nowhere so I am not rooting for the Pats.
The Jets are playing hard... their biggest challenge is the remaining schedule: Carolina, KC, @Denver, @New Orleans, Chargers, @New England. A 4-2 record would be pretty good from that... and where does that get them? 8-8. Of course, the AFC sucks, which is why 8-8 might get them in. But all that has nothing to to do with rooting for the Patriots. Miami and Buffalo are imploding on their own. That article is crazy talk/ click bait. .
The Jets fucking SUCK this season. There's no amount of help, even from the patsies, that's going to change that.
