... I really got no buts. It really looks great on paper. Gase knows his offense, williams knows his defense and special teams is already up there. This is it guys. I don’t think we had a better staff in the last 8-10 years or so. What says you?
It surely has the potential to be. Really depends on Gase's maturation as a head coach, did he learn from his mistakes in MIA?
All depends on how Gase and Darnold work together. Gase may be the next top coach who figured it out after getting fired, or he may be one of the worst coaches in the league. We'll find out.
The offense needs a playmaker or two, the defense needs a pass rush, and the OL needs some high(er) end players. Time for Maccagnan to put up or shut up now that he hired his HC. Let's see if his drafting in rounds 2-4 improves. Need more Herndons, less Stewarts and Hansens.
I'm still not comfortable with the offensive head coach/defensive head coach operation because no one seems to be willing to talk about creating an overall direction for the team and building a total game strategy and when that needs altering what the process will be. A strong administrator is needed and I'd feel a lot better if Gase made it clear that he was prepared to perform that function in addition to running the offense instead of just leaving it out in the ether.
If this Coaching Staff cant be significantly better in action than the Bowles crew every Sunday we are in big trouble. I am not talking player upgrades..that has to go without saying i mean game planning, game management and in game adjustments And the big one >>>>time outs/2nd and 4th Qtr clock management
How do you know that? Have you sat in on team meetings or had 1 on 1 contact with the persons involved?
Of course not, don't be silly, but with all the public comment that has been made this has not even come close to being addressed. That concerns me; no problem if you're okay with it.
I'd rather the organization not discuss its internal decisions publicly... I prefer they keep it close to the vest & let the play on the field speak for itself.
I see a lot of retreads from coaches Gase had with Miami,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Im now in the "show me " camp. Here is what Gase did after the Dolphins went 6 and 10 ( the year before the Dolphins fired him ), he purged his staff , does this look and sound familiar to us Jet fans ? http://dailydolphin.blog.palmbeachp...se-overhauls-staff-hoping-for-change-in-2018/
It all reads good in the papers, but we'll see how it actually performs outside the lab. They have the potential to be good, and the potential to turn into a complete meltdown if things go sideways. Again, time will tell if this volatile mix works or not.
Hopefully the staff on offense, consisting of multiple pieces from last year’s 31st ranked Dolphins offense, does a 180 or else we are right in the same boat we’ve been stuck in for a decade.
The coaching staff looks great. How good is our player personal department and GM? It's hard to make a great steak with a can of spam.
Based on observations from a distance, during the last 8-10 years the Jets have been very poorly managed on the sideline during games, and the locker room has often been a soap opera. And even though Ryan and Bowles had ample opportunity, the former never improved and the latter only toward the end of Bowles' tenure (personally I see that as a reflection of the aimless drift at Floral Park, but that's a discussion for another thread). Every OC seemed to be managing the last offense they ran instead of this one, and on D they seemed to just show up and react, always just chasing the ball. The Jets will be a far better team on Day 1 if this coaching staff can address these things.
