Factor in the Sheldon trade and Kearse. I'm sure you can come up with a negative view of that tho.

If he does, given he's on a one year deal he would either ask for the stars or walk.

I'm fine with that actually. Im not wowed by any of these prospects. Furthermore, there's a possibility "our guy" could get selected before us still.

Why, it's not like all these guys are sure things. It wouldn't be that hard to believe that they might have discounted Rosen based on accuracy/playing at a small school or Mayfield based on size/atitude questions.

And again you're using could and might. You know the Browns are taking a QB at 1 or 4. If the Jets didn't move up the Bills likely would have moved up to the Colts or Browns' 4 spot and picked a QB themselves. The Broncos and Giants could both easily take QB's.

we still have 20-30M left to spend on FAs (I wish they would get all those contracts posted)..don't know if there are any real picks out there to spend it on though.

Macc has been timid his entire tenure here and that has changed today. Now, we will see what happens at 2 with the giants. They’ll either trade the pick to the bills for a huge ransom, but I think the jets have their eyes on either rosen or mayfield and will be ok picking either one. At this point I don’t even care if the bills jump us because we are guaranteed to pick a QB and both rosen and mayfield are good pick ups. Also, I get the sense bills will draft Allen, which will still allow us to pick whoever we’d like

Great move. If it will make the doubters feel any better, we suck picking in the second round anyway. No? Not good enough? A franchise in a qb rich draft that has been searching for a qb for 4 decades moves up with second round picks?

Come on guys...really. Mac loves 2 of these guys and he is getting one. I would have love to have seen this board if he did nothing and we got the 4th qb available.

    Great move.

Lets look at the trade value chart

    Colts pick is 2200 points

    Jets 1st is 1600 points
    Jets 2a is 570 points
    Jets 2b is 410 points
    Next year's # 2 let's say 280 points

We paid 2860 points so this draft better be very heavy at the top.

He would have lost his job if he didn't..unless of course he was able to get Jackson later.

Depending on who "our guy" is, mathematically the Jets can't lose out on a QB at 3. This might be the sweet spot to be in overall as we are guaranteed to be in position to draft one out of the top 4 QB prospects.

Hopefully the Bills trade up to 2 and shield us from Allen.

Let them take the QBs! Then we just get an elite prospect at another position, that's my point

Sitting at 6 either a good QB falls or an elite talent at another position...and we don't have to give up THREE 2nd rounders

We have no idea which of these QBs will bust....so now we're just taking a risk we didn't have to

You act as if I do it on purpose....We haven't made the playoffs in almost 8 years.A chid was born and is in second grade already during this time...

To me this move is because the Browns and Giants are taking qb’s and wouldn’t deal their picks.

    Darnold goes 1
    Rosen goes 2

Jets are taking Mayfield or Allen...
I pray it’s Mayfield or this going to look really, really stupid in a few years.

If the Giants end up taking Barkley, then I’m fine with Rosen too.

Allen looks so unnatural / robotic in everything he does, he’s going to be a sucky NFL qb with no feel of how to play the game... like Mark Sanchez/Geno Smith with a bigger body/arm.

I have to admit, at first glance I am not enamored with this trade. Why sign two QB's and then trade three extra 2nd rounders for (presumably) a third QB? Seems like overkill to me. It looks haphazard - especially when you don't know who will actually be available. I would think when you trade up (and give up a lot of draft capital) you are doing it to draft "your guy". If you are happy with any any of three guys then why not just wait until the draft?

Also, when you look at the draft chart (at least the ones that I see online) the two extra 2nd rounders this year should have been enough to go from #6 to #3. Why did they have to give up the extra 2nd rounder?

And if they don't pick a QB - fuggettaboutit.
