That's why Ron Wolf insisted on having a good offensive minded HC, he understood the importance of having the most important position on the team being developed correctly. Even when the Steelers had a young Ben, he was in great hands with Bruce Arians who was his OC and helped him develope. Maybe if Mac had an offensive minded HC he would draft differently, I don't know, but it's no coincidence that the jets have had defense heavy drafts while they have had defensive minded HC.
I respect your posting a lot JV, but Mcown has 10 years in the league, Petty has 3 years in the league, Hack has still not played a regular season game. Alex Smith was labeled a bust in San Francisco, he went through 4 defensive minded HC,4 different offensive schemes, and when he finally was paired with a good offensive minded HC that used him correctly he blossomed and has had a good career. Hack and Petty will be on their third offensive system at the end of this year and new coaching staff. It's just not the way to develope a QB.
Not as long as Macc is the GM and Blowes is the HC. 2018 and Petty will be freed from The Dutchman. Macc will have to find yet another JAG vet to hide Hacc behind.
You can rest assure that many people here that are already Claiming Hack a bust, ignore Petty and get wet clamoring for the first pick in 2018 to get Darnold will be for sure first in line to crap all over Mac if the boy wonder from USC shits the bed. Hind sight wisdom at its best.
Hack is likely damaged goods, between the battering he took at PSU, and 4 OC's in 4 seasons, along with the utter trash he has been put out with this year, it would be impossible for anyone in his position to look good. But hey, at least Bowles got his two safeties, his cover ILB and a DL for his stellar defense..... Oh wait.....
