    Not so fast, Mets fan....

NEW YORK -- St. Louis Cardinals first baseman Albert Pujols is the leading vote-getter in the latest National League All-Star voting released Monday.

The major league leader in home runs and RBI, Pujols is the first player to eclipse the one million vote mark as he leads NL first basemen with 1,041,466 votes. Carlos Delgado of the New York Mets is a distant second to Pujols with 304,287.

Off to a torrid start to the season by hitting .308 with 25 homers, 65 RBI and 52 runs scored, Pujols went on the disabled list on Sunday with a strained muscle on his right side.

Pujols' St. Louis teammates Scott Rolen and David Eckstein are also position leaders in line to play in the 77th All-Star Game on July 11 at Pittsburgh's PNC Park. Rolen leads third basemen with 471,826 votes while Eckstein is tops among shortstops at 396,826.

Philadelphia's Chase Utley rounds out the infield leaders with 438,376 votes. He has a 27,165-vote lead on Houston's Craig Biggio for the starting second base spot.

Atlanta's Andruw Jones (582,749), Carlos Beltran of the Mets (499,693) and Cincinnati's Ken Griffey Jr. (479,963) are the leaders among league outfielders. Griffey is the all-time leading vote getter in Major League Baseball history.

Paul Lo Duca of the New York Mets leads former Met Mike Piazza of the San Diego Padres for the starting catcher spot. Lo Duca has 411,131 votes to 367,161 for Piazza.

i'm not out to see the entire roster filled with mets, the players that deserve it should make it, rather then the ballot stuffing we see from NY and St Louis

    AND BOSTON!!!!!

Do not single out Yankees fans here. Boston is just as guilty....

    1B - Ortiz
    2B - Cano
    SS - Jeter
    3B - ARod
    LF - Manny
    CF - Damon
    RF - Vlad
    C - Varitek
    P - Mussina maybe??

And I have to think there are a few Damon fans left in Boston..

how do they handle dh's in the AL? thome and hafner are 2 of the best hitters in baseball this year but they don't play the field.

manny deserves to start, tek is an abomination of a selection(i guess this balances out with cano) and ortiz shouldn't be starting at 1st

Game is in a NL park this year so no DH's. Thome and Hafner would qualify as 1b though on the ballot or they would get added to the roster by the manager.

I don't see why your complaining. There are no better shortstops, or second basemen in the league now. Damon and A-rod are debateable but they are both at the top.

Well, Tejada has had a better season then Jeter. But it's close. Jose Lopez T Iguchi and Grudz are all having much better seasons then Cano

Jeter has one of the best BA's in the league right now, and he's a perennial allstar...the fans got it right

Yeah, Tejada would've been a good choice too, but it's not like he was all-out robbed. They're having comparable seasons for the most part

I think it should be Jose Lopez and his 47 RBI.

There is a very good chance that Lopez will get added by Ozzie.
Oh, btw, the second place vote getter at 2nd is Mark Loretta.

I gave you 3 players, make it 4 with Wigginton, I thought he was primarily a 3rd baseman

And who do you start over him? Jeez what does he have to do to impress you. You can't honestly tell me that of the nameswsere taken away from the ballot, you wouldn't vote for Jeter because of the numbers he's putting up this year.
