BREAKING: @NYJets fear WR Jermaine Kearse will miss season opener vs. Lions after undergoing medical procedure on injured abdomen, per sources. Story: buff.ly/2Plnxtupic.twitter.com/RVj7DwF… This wouldn't be as big of a deal if we weren't starting a rookie QB, but having his veteran presence would help tremendously.... Sucks, but I hope he can come back week 3 or 4
Kearse was the most important WR/TE to have on the field if Darnold was going to start. Him not being there is a problem. He's the most reliable route-runner and pass catcher.
Agree 100%....although having the grouping of (Enunwa, Anderson, Pryor, Sterling/Walford) is decent. I wouldn't be opposed to bringing in another veteran receiver if Kearse is going to be out for a few weeks though. Brandon Marshall is still serviceable.
DEZ... SIGN THE BEAST! But really, this stinks. Not the way you want to start your season. Marshall is with Seattle.
FEAR he will miss, not WILL miss the opener. Although Todd Bowles recently said that Kearse is “getting better every day,” he offered no specific timetable for return. “Day-to-day, week-to-week,” Bowles said. Not he is definitely out, theres a chance he could be playing
Dez Bryant should be on line one immediately. If hungry at the age of 29 he could still have a lot left in the tank as a true veteran receiver. Just last year played and started all 16 games while recording 69 receptions, 838 receiving yards and 6 TD receptions for a young Dak Prescott. Those numbers are very similar to the numbers that Kearse put up last year (although slightly better within all 3 categories). You can never have enough pass catching options and featuring the likes of Dez Bryant, Robby Anderson, Quincy Enunwa, Terrell Pryor and Jermaine Kearse upon return would be something electric. I feel and believe that Dez Bryant could immediately become our #1 possession WR on the outside while Robby Anderson feasts against opposing #2's on the outside. Both Enunwa and Kearse would be hard to stop out of the slots when going 4 wide. And Terrell Pryor then becomes the ultimate weapon once inside the Red Zone. Dez Bryant is not done (see for yourselves).
I like Kearse, but the Jets will be fine with Anderson, Pryor, and Enunwa against the Lions if that is the case. I doubt the Jets will be running a bunch of 4-wide sets anyway.
Concur, as well as trying to get some of the TEs involved in the passing game. No to Dez, don't need any assholes on this team. It's finally starting to feel good to root for these guys.
not a big deal IMO. we still have anderson, Q, and pryor as our top 3. hard to complain about that. once kearse comes back it's just the icing on the cake. plus to be fair our WRs in 2019 will look much different. I think 1-2 of our top 4 this year will be gone. likely kearse and maybe pryor as well if Q shows he's back to his old self.
Ugh. This is the sort of move the Jets used to make, that led to holes reappearing in the roster in two or three seasons. I hope they stay well clear of Bryant. He wouldn't be part of the picture when Sam is ready to take us places.
Dez has publicly said he's going to wait this out and when he is ready, decide to sign somewhere. His best bet was that multi-year Ravens deal (if true). He passed. His even better bet was the Browns, and he for some reason left the building without a deal.
Is there a doctor in the house? What surgery could he be needing that might only require a 5 day recovery????? I mean, WTF
What medical school did you go to? Explain the procedure he had? And why are you saying something that wasn't reported? You have him out of the opener. HC announces hes day to day and you have him missing 4 or more weeks.
