I think it's a good trade for the Jets. The draft pick is higher than I thought we'd get for Sheldon alone, getting a decent wide receiver as well is a bonus. The likelihood was that Sheldon was a goner after this season anyway.
It looks like this is a straight up second round pick. I really hate to see Sheldon go, but I understand why he has to and I'm pretty pleased with the package we got back.
keep in mind the pick is going to be a late second rounder, but a straight second and not conditional is nice
It really is a pretty fantastic trade for the Jets considering a lot of us were expecting no more than a third or fifth. And when you think about it, it really shouldn't have been much more than a third considering all of the off field issues and the fact Sheldon is dur a massive payday or he's going to walk.
its an excellent deal all things considered...many on thio sboard said we wouldnt be able to get a 2nd rounder...let alone a decent player plus a 2nd rounder
Exactly my thoughts. Never thought we would get more then a 3 for Sheldon plus we get a veteran WR who everyone said we needed and he's signed for 2 more years with no dead money if we cut him after this year. Finally a smart move by the GM. So what DL gets saved by this?
Not really an issue for a team like the Jets. Plus if he is not worth it he can be cut with no expense I am pretty sure.
Sheldon could be great in Seattle.. All things considered, this is a good trade. It's long been apparent Sheldon is the odd man out and to get a 2nd round pick given his suspensions, off-field/on-field issues, and being due a big payday (a. paying it and b. how will he respond with a ton a of guaranteed money), it's a good trade. Kearse is a bonus as an NFL receiver with legitimate experience, but he's a pretty underwhelming player. I hope Stewart, Anderson, and Hansen show enough to hold him off eventually. However, still will be nice to have a veteran to throw to..
I like the move by Mac, it's way better than a 2019 comp pick. Kearse looks like he's good for 40 catches or so, not great but its a warm body with experience. I take it that Seattle will make heavy use of Graham. Offensively they really only have Graham, Baldwin and Lockett. They have hot garbage for RB's. You can make the argument that an old Forte is still way better than Lacy. To me Seattle is one offensive skill player injury away from being a bad offense. If not for their division I wouldn't be surprised if that 2nd round pick becomes closer to the middle of the 2nd round rather than the end.
