Next year will certainly get more interesting. Good job, Tanny. Now Phags are boasting 5 10+M/yr contracts now, and are 8M over the cap as of now. They will have to trim down fast before the draft! [LOL]

    Wow, what an awful move.

Landry will be making the same amount as Golden Tate and Marvin Jones, combined.

Is he better than either one?

Debatable for sure, but I don't think $16M when QB-play is in question for Miami was the smartest move.

Bad move from the Dolphins but not surprised due to Tanny being the GM. Don't get me wrong, he's a good player, but he's not worth 16 mil.

They'll prob try to reach a long term contract extension rather than keep the tag on him.

Don’t really understand the end game here for Phins. Unless it is to trade him which is where I’d put my money. Reportedly the Phins turned down a long term extension at 14 mil a year but they are willing to pay 16mil in a year that they are up against the cap?

Maybe they will trade Jarvis for another 1st day pick and then make a move for one of the top quarterbacks in the draft.

Would you give up a first round pick for the opportunity to pay Landry top wr money?

This sucks. I was hopin he would escape in FA. He needs a new team anyway. Landry is tough as nails and lays it all on the field. That's atypical of the pussy dolphin franchise

At what exactly? That's a pretty bold statement. Jones is different type of WR, so the comparison was just for kicks

But Tate is just as tough and arguably better with the ball in his hands. It's why Tate continually leads the YAC category and is much more productive in turning a 2 yard gain into a 20+ yarder

Tate is solid. Landry is way way better than Jones but Tate is close. Landry is just better. He has played with bums and he's got 400 catches in 4 years. If he played with Stafford in that wide open stuff Detroit plays he would be way better than Tate

I think Tanny could get a high 2nd rd pick for Jarvis. Maybe a mid to low 1st rd pick.

Jones and Landry are different WRs. Landry wouldn't be able to win down the sidelines like Jones does. It's not Landry's game.

I really don't think QB matters when the average depth of route is 5-6 yards. But to each their own.

Ah, 2nd day pick . Wasn’t splitting hairs but day 1 is only round 1.
    A 2nd is still a bit much I think.

In related news, Demarcus Lawrence will get the tag if a deal isn’t reached before March 6, per Stephen Jones.

    Take off another one.

Dolphins will end up trading Landry for a bag of chips, draft some safe picks do-nothings cornfed fatasses, get stuck with a bum QB and coach, and finish like 5-11 at best. Not high enough to make the playoffs but not low enough to draft a franchise changing QB. Even when they do make the playoffs they are 1 and done. Seen this movie too many times before.
