Mangini did not say that, look at the quotes. The only thing EM said was that Martin will be in competition for the RB spot. The rest of the stuff is speculation by the writers....
I am OK with Blaylock being let go. I am also OK with Martin and Houston in the backfield splitting carries. Martin will hopefully come out big in his "last hoorah", and Houston looked very good last season when given a chance. Don't forget that Houston will now have a full year without that disease he had. Blaylock could have been a good change-of-pace RB for us. Unfortunately, there is no room on our cap and roster for him.
I'd like to see what Blaylock has,KC seem to have an eye for good running backs.I wouldn't mind a running back by committee approach with Houston,Martin and Blaylock till we find a full time replacement.
Well Blaylock was in for only like 13 carries or so, so it is easy to forget about him, if we don't get a RB this year there is no way Blaylock gets cut
He definitely will not be cut. He'll cost 920K more to NOT be on the team in 2006. In other words, if he's cut, we get an additional cap charge of 920K, and we have to pay a replacement. Even at minimum wage rookie charge, it's 1.15M penalty.
i kinda like the martin, blaylock, houston trio...though it will be hard to really see what the two younger guys can do i think both houston and blaylock have good potential
