Starts season, goes 8-4 and here we are.

Obviously we run him out last 4 looking for division.

But what do y'all think we do after that?

If we keep him and finish 10-6, we know he'll be gone for big money and no real gain except for compensatory.

Do we sign him ? Trade?

Good problems I know. I predict we will have good problems!

We give him a 5 year, $160 million dollar contact. Fully guaranteed.

This is what went though my mind, too. Sorry. I hope he is effective and winning. I don’t hope he tears anyrthing.

Which is one of the reasons why Hackenberg is still on the roster... Insurance. Bridgewater minus knee = Hackenberg.

Teddy and tear should never be used in the same sentence ever again in any context.

Are Norv Turner and 2015 Adrian Peterson coming onto the roster?

Bridgewater, if he even makes the team, will be riding the pine pony. McCown or Darnold will be starting Week 1 and if it's McCown, once he goes down, it's Darnold's time.

    Too soon

But I think it's a good problem to have if Teddy plays well. I would imagine he then becomes a trade piece to a team whose QB will (ultimately) go down with an injury. There is no way we drafted Darnold on the basis that "Well, we have Teddy and if he balls out, Sam is SOL..."

Even if we don't tag Bridgewater, and he leaves in FA, the Jets will still get a good comp pick. Not sure how high the rounds go for those.

In any event, if the impossible happens and Bridgewater brings a VLT to NYC, I don't see the Jets letting him walk. (It's much more likely that the knee can't take a hit, and that he's either riding the pine, working as a de facto coaching intern. Not a terrible outcome for a kid with bad luck but character and intelligence. Would be an asset to Darnold.)

3rd round.... based on the compensation the player receives from another team (a QB would be high)
Not sure if it matters if they were only on the team for a year signed as a free agent though?

Hmm. I thought it applied regardless of how the player contract was acquired? I thought that was a component of some GMs' strategies, no? (I could easily be very, very wrong.)

well yeah, sort of..... If your player becomes a free agent, and then gets paid handsomely by another team, youre eligible for a compensation pick., the comp picks are also offset by free agents you aquire.

That's why the well run teams that draft well and rarely sign free agents often get more comp picks (EX Ravens)

Ill answer the question Teddy and a tear shouldnt be joked about. BUt the hope for me would be that we tag teddy and trade him for a 1st that would the ultimate goal. Thats what im rooting for dont wanna see Darnold until Week 16-17 when we wrapped up a playoff spot.

    Hypothetically Friday:

Teddy wins the QB "competition", starts all 16 games, goes on to win 10 of them, finishes the year with:
    - less than 10 INT's
    - 4000+ yards
    - 20+ TD's
    - 69% comp

    What happens in the offseason?
