What can I say, I'm an asshole. Although I've always wanted to do a trachectomy so if @Dierking wants to meet for a coffee, I'll bring a Bic pen and my Swiss Army Knife.
For me, I have not seen: -2001: A Space Odyssey -A Clockwork Orange -The Shawkshank Redemption -Raging Bull
2001 shows its age if you watch it. I've watched a few "classics" and have been bored to tears with them, but at the time I'm sure they were amazing. You can actually read the 2001 Space Odyssey book, which was written at the same time as the movie (they worked together on it, if I recall correctly). It is a little bit clearer as to 1) what is going on and 2) the motivations of HAL. Clockwork is a better book as well. Shawshank is a rare time when the movie is better than the book and I say that as someone who has read everything written by Stephen King. Movie is filled with emotion. Raging Bull I haven't seen either.
2001 was and is, for me, a complete bore fest. For sci fi I’ve got: Terminator 1 an 2 Matrix 1 Minority Report Blade Runner Robocop original Edge of Tomorrow (better novel) 12 Monkeys And the creme de la creme John Carpenter’s The Thing And yes I’ve gotten laid since Carter was president. Once.
Literally just saw Casablanca for the first time last year. Great movie. Ironic because I had the classic Casablanca framed movie poster in my apartment in college. Because I thought it looked cool. What a dick.
Shawshank was funny because I read the novella and had no idea what the movie was about until I saw the poster and said “holy crap I know what happens!”
It always confuses me when people brag about not having seen some popular movie as if it's impressive.
That movie sucked. I would imagine the only way it could have been worse is if it had been dubbed in Turkish.
