Ok this is a complete longshot and very hypothetical but with that said the rumor is the jags could draft watson 4th overall. Now if they do that, it's very likely they will start him day 1. We have richardson as trade bait and a huge hole at QB, do we try and move Richardson for bortles. he was the 3rd overall pick in 2014. has started all the years on a bad team. his best season was 2015 when he threw for 4,400 yards, 35TDs to 18INTs (he needs to get the INTs down for sure) but he's young and better then anything we have on the roster and still cheap on his rookie deal for 2017. this season is only 6.5 mil (we are paying mckown 6 mil and plus by trading richardson we save 2 million overall)
Bortles is absolutely horrible!!! He gets bailed out because his receivers are so good. His stats are inflated because Jaguars are always getting blown out and he compiles stats in garbage time.
worse then mckown, hack, and petty? I don't think so and there is no commitment. and if we choose not to resign him we get a com pick anyway just like we would with richardson
I dont know what we have in Hack or Petty ,,,,,but I watched many Jags games and Bortles is real bad,,,I would not trade Richardson for him no
sheldon is likely gone today and if not then next off season for sure. either way it's a wash. bortles isn't nearly as bad as you guys are making him out to be. he struggled last year but in 2015 (stolen from wikipedia) Despite the Jaguars finishing 5-11 in 2015, Bortles enjoyed a breakout season, setting the Jaguars single-season franchise records for passing touchdowns (35), passing yards, (4,428), pass completions (355), and pass attempts (606). His passer rating only fell below 80 five times in the season, in weeks 1, 6, 7, 10, and 17. He also threw a touchdown pass in the Jaguars' first 15 games of 2015, a franchise record. After finishing his 15th game, he had the second most touchdown passes in the league with 35. After throwing no touchdowns in a week 17 matchup against the Houston Texans, he had to share second place with Eli Manning, Cam Newton, and Carson Palmer, behind only Tom Brady's 36. He was also seventh in the NFL in passing yards with 4,428, behind Drew Brees, Phillip Rivers, Brady, Palmer, Matt Ryan, and Manning. He was ranked 56th on the NFL Top 100 Players of 2016.[18]
Im not so sure Sheldon is gone today at all,,,,,and yes 2 years ago Bortles played well but oohhhhh last year = yuck
yeah he regressed big time but he's only 24 and has experience and talent. a change in scenery could be good for him
