Good thing Hoyer isn't coming here. I have seen the journey-man that has a career year, holds out, gets resigned and promptly shits the bed movie already. Roll with the Petty, Hack, Tom Tupa trifecta and hope for the best, or worst...

Glad we stayed out of the first wave. That's when players get overpaid even though those left behind are often just as good.

I'm fine with letting them fight it out

I think deep inside most fans could deal with a shit year assuming we have a plan

I think most Jet Fans are looking ahead to 2018 already so why not let Geno, Petty and Hack fight it out. Won't mean shit if Macc doesn't get something done on the Oline.

now that the QB pool is thinned i see it as
    hoyer - 9ers
cousins - likely 9ers or staying in wash possibly
romo - to be released tomorrow, likely to hou or den
    taylor - staying in buffalo
    glennon - likely to chi

    who still needs a QB?
    jets, cle, and possibly wash

    who is still left
mckown - 38 and really just a vet backup
cutler - way too much of a wildcard, had some good years but has been awful lately
geno - why would we even go there? career backup at best
garappolo - NE likely won't trade him, especially to us. cle offered 12th overall pick for him apparently
fitz - not gonna happen, probably retires.

in other words, looks like it's going to be petty, hack, and a draft pick. Rumors in the clubhouse are petty's ceiling is career back up and hack still isn't ready to start. in other words we don't have a starting QB this season that can be decent

Any body who thinks the Jets are going into the 2017 season with 3 green wet-behind the-ears QB's with a total of about 6 games experience ( Petty) and 1 that many experts have stated will not be the starting QB in 2017 (Hack), not to mention , one they'll draft that many scouts say it is a real weak QB draft, hey I've got life insurance plan for you. Just send me money at BomberJet , PO box 23 skidoo, Suckersville, NJ

I'm LMAO with the notion that some here think Maccagnan is going to admit he made a big mistake wasting a 2nd rounder last year. Oh, boy, too funny

Weak schedule..better defensive effort in 2015

But there were early signs of mismanagement of clock and play calls

Remember the 5 game losing streak ?..took him forever to handle that

Hack was highly regarded after his freshman year. There was no consensus that he was even draftable after his sophomore year.

It wouldn't take much for 6-8 wins next year...... and that's all it'll take to be out of the running for the Top 2 qb's.....

If this is all that's left, Bowles better start looking for his next job.
2017 is looking like a lost season.

You're right let's not over think it. What has Bowles shown us?
    • he sticks with vets over young guys
    • he's thinking short term
    • he's willing to sacrifice long term benefits to win a meaningless game or two

I think drafting a QB in later rounds is morr likely. Mac will draft 1 every draft until Jets found the right man.

No your point was "give him a chance cause he was suppose to be good out of high school" then you realized he actually did play in college and decided it was a better point to say he was a 2nd round pick.
Bottom line: you want to see what he's got and so do the rest of us so we all agree.. Just not because he was suppose to be good out of h.S ;)

He has also shown us he can develop young players. Bowles has some work to do to develop as a HC, but I am not writing him off just yet. Jets record wise might not be good next year, but he can still improve at being a HC. Next year is about improvement and that isn't measured in wins and loses. He could've handled things better last year, but its time to move on from last year.

I'm not writing him off. In fact, I'm the leader of the Keep Bowles and Mac For Stability party. I just think bringing Geno back will end up in a repeat of the QB situation we just went thru. We're gonna suck next year. Why not go all in on the young guys leave no questions unanswered and know exactly where we stand for 2018? If we lose 15 games but Hack looks legit that completely changes the narrative for the future

Mac used a 2nd rounder on Hack was my point. If another QB is selected before he is given his due process then we threw this pick away. Just choose any player of note selected after Hack and say we could've got him instead.

Absolutely terrific. Let hack and petty fight for the job. If they suck, good. We go get the kid from USC. If they're good? Great. We got our guy to build around. Win win IMO
