Is she a beagle mix? She doesn't look like a beagle. What's going on here? I voted though.

We aren't entirely sure. She's definitely beagle but I'm not sure if she's pure bred or not. She looks beagle, but doesn't have many beagle personality traits. Terrible tracker, not a chow-hound. Super smart and easily trainable.

Beagles come in all sorts of colors. All-white, all-black, any ratio of white-black-brown. We also keep her in pretty good shape and never feed her scraps so she stays in shape.

I was hoping it would be a bunch of dog pictures and then a picture of your face.

    Thread title is misleading.

Edit: I voted for your dog though.

Your dog has heartworms? N-o-o-o-o-o. Is she on doxy and pred now or getting injections? Voted because that's a tough gig. Personally she looks like a Dachshund/Beagle mix to me. Good luck to your doggy. She looks like a sweetheart.

She did doxy, then one set of injections, a month of doxy and prednisone, 2 sets of injections and she's currently on a month of prednisone but she should be good to go.

I think there's a german shepherd mixed in. She has a lot alert dog tendencies and is super protective.

I grew up with the assumption that when a dog was infected with heartworms it was a death sentence. Turns out its pretty easily treated as I was in the same shoes you were in a year ago adopting a dog with heartworms. Treatments sucked but a year later she is heartworm free with no repercussions to speak of. Anyways I voted, cool looking dog

On the subject of heartworms, did the dog have them when adopted. Is it different up north and they are not as prevalent? I know down here, with the massive amounts of mosquitoes, it is almost a given that everyone has their dog on Heartgard or something similar.

Edit: By the way, I voted for Dixie Bell, she only had one vote and I always pull for the underdog.

She did not have them when she was adopted. The rescue waits until they are heartworm free to adopt them out. But the "season" is normally shorter up north as the mosquitoes are usually not around so late in the year. It was a super warm fall so mosquitoes were around months later than usual.

Yeah, down here with it being so warm you have to keep them on Heartgard year round to be safe. Well I gave her a vote but Copper, with 153 votes, looks to have a pretty big lead.
