That's fine, but that's how he's been viewed by pretty much all the people paid to give analysis. I'm not calling him a can't miss prospect, I'm just saying that's how he's been talked about for a year leading up to the draft. There hasn't been anyone like that since Luck.
Because the team picking 1 has a history of making the wrong pick and the 2nd team thinks they have a QB? None of this means that he's not the highest thought of QB prospect since Luck.
I also agree he's not quite "can't miss" platinum like Peyton, Elway, Luck etc but Darnold probably actually is the #1 thought of NFL prospect since Luck. I guess the competition would be Winston, Mariota, Goff and Wentz right? I think its fair to say Darnold had the spotlight/reputation thing shining on him for longer than any of those guys. I just hope he freaking converts the potential into real results and the Jets actually catch a big break for once.
