Got to give D'Brickashaw Ferguson a mention. 10 years at left tackle and the only snap he ever missed was because of a trick play.
Best Jet of all time to me is a toss up of Curtis Martin and Joe Klecko and Joe Namath. Jet who was the best player to me is the selfish Revis
Its gotta be Namath. No one else has come close. Don Maynard solid second and Joe Klecko 3rd. Al Toon is a personal favorite but his body of work was cut short due to concussions.
Good catch, Mawae changed the game. He could get out front on sweeps like nobody else. He should be in the HOF but due to his union activities it might take a few years. Real shame.
Gastineau was awesome for the Jets. Imagine how dangerous he would be with these creative defensive packages they have now. A 270 lb monster that ran a 4.5 40.
When I said that Mawae and Gastineau go over Martin I was inferring that Martin did not belong in the top five (meaning below the other three guys on the list as well).
Maynard ... anytime I see America's game on, I always watch and wait for the part when Maynard talks about kicking the Raiders ass in the AFL Championship game. Really great stats too ... always felt he was one of the more underrated receivers in NFL history. damn shame you can't get a digital copy of that game
Don Maynard actually was the leading receiver in NFL history when he retired. I forgot about that. He held that record for 4 more seasons. He was the leader all time in receiving yards and he is still #28! It took 13 seasons for Charley Joiner to surpass him as all-time receiving yards leader. He was #2 all-time in receiving TD's to Don Hutson (who retired in 1945). It took 14 years for Steve Largent to pass him as #1 all-time. He averaged 18.7 YPC over the course of his career and nobody who caught more balls than him has been able to match that average. I think Maynard might have been the greatest Jet of all time in terms of his performance over time compared to his peers.

Martin not only a hall of fame player who spent a decade with the Jets, but was also probably the classiest athlete this town has ever seen.

I'm not saying Curtis Martin is the greatest Jet ever (I don't think he is) but whenever the topic comes up, I am always surprised by the lack of respect he gets from this forum. He wasn't flashy, he was absolutely consistent and didn't make mistakes. He did that so well that he's is in the HOF and is in the top 25 in almost every statistical category related to his position, including one for which he gets a lot of crap: TDs (Tied with Franco Harris for 23rd). My greatest Jet ever is Don Maynard, for reasons explained elsewhere in this thread. My favorite Jets all time are Boozer and Winston Hill, who never get enough credit. I have a special place in my heart for a lot of guys who weren't the greatest, but seemed to bleed green while they were here, like Chrebet, Ray Mickens, Mo Lewis, Mehl, Clifton, Mersereau, Hector, Buttle, Victor Green, and Brad Baxter.
Let me ask this question.. Would we be putting Namath up here if it wasn't for Super Bowl 3 and the whole guarantee thing?
