    In fairness the defense has been playing well. It’s the offense that has been atrocious.

    Darnold is so nervous he threw from his back foot to a wide open Q and overthrew him. A pass rushing OLB and the the oline is the Achilles heel of this team as it was last year. Pass rushing defenses are going to feast on the jets in the upcoming games.

    No, neither I nor anyone else was suggesting not addressing needs in FA. That was purely and totally your insertion, hence my comment about it being a "strawman argument." We may be saying the same thing in reality, but that's not what it seemed like with your first response.

    Of course, one should try to fill needs during FA if one can. One can't always do that. Even when one can, the position can either still be upgraded even more via the draft, or the player you upgrade with in FA may be an older vet (stopgap) whom you'll only get a year or two's worth of productivity, and you look to still take a player at that position in the draft to groom for the future.
