to the Bucs for a 2018 3rd Rd pick and a 2018 4th Rd pick per Adam Schefter. I wonder if this means they take Chubb at #2.
This is the best news all morning lol. Definitely a possibility....he just had his pro day as well. Lack of pass rushers in this draft as well.
Have to think this increases their chances of taking Chubb. The only problem with this for the Jets is that they might think that he will be there at #5 if Denver wants to swap picks: Cleveland - Darnold/Rosen/Allen, Denver - Darnold/Rosen/Allen, Jets - Darnold/Rosen/Allen/Mayfield, Cleveland - Barkley, Giants - Chubb, and the Giants also get say Denver's 2019 first round pick. If I'm the Giants I do that in a heartbeat, since I'm pretty much guaranteed Barkley or Chubb and a shot at my future QB next year.
I don't see Giants staying at 2. I think they will trade down for the best offer. I can see Broncos trading up with them or maybe Bills. Anyway QB's will go 1 and 2 and Jets will end up selecting either Allen or Mayfield.
I am watching Giants due to my kids. Being a Jets fan isn't cool at school. I lost them to Giants and Yankees. That said JPP's play has dropped significantly. Also they are switching to 3-4 and JPP didn't seem like a good fit. Giants did this to clear up cap space.
I'd be shocked if they took a guard over an edge rusher or a supposed generational running back. They need OL, but you can get a good guard a lot more easily.
I think he will, but if Cleveland takes him with the #4 pick I think the Giants would take Barkley, since they need to improve their running game also, rather than Nelson.
Trading JPP I guess frees up 19 million next year to resign Collins/OBJ...still kind of a strange move if they are going for it now and not taking a QB. The question now is Denver targeting a QB and trading up or are they content with Keenum for a few years...I don't see the Giants trading back past 5.
I wonder if this can set up a trade down with the Browns. That is a trade that can safely be made right now between the two clubs. Browns get the QB of their choice, all odds point to Darnold and the best player in the draft in Barkley. Giants then get their choice of Chubb and Nelson. Broncos also may be an option but I don’t think they’re all in for a QB, could be wrong but I don’t see it. They have a small window open and just signed a QB with a 2 year guarantee and can get an immediate impact player.
I think the Brown will most likely still get a QB and Barkley at 4 I don't see a reason for them to trade up..The Jets are taking a QB and the team trading to 2 will almost certainly take a QB...the only way they won't get him is if the Giants want him and then they wouldn't make that trade anyway.
History of the NFL Draft when quarterbacks have been selected with the first two picks. 2016: 1 Jared Goff, 2 Carson Wentz 2015: 1 Jameis Winston, 2 Marcus Mariota 2012: 1 Andrew Luck, 2 Robert Griffin III 1999: 1 Tim Couch, 2 Donovan McNabb, 3 Akili Smith 1998: 1 Peyton Manning, 2 Ryan Leaf 1993: 1 Drew Bledsoe, 2 Rick Mirer 1971: 1 Jim Plunkett, 2 Archie Manning There's been a lot of digital smoke about potentially as many as 4 qb's being selected in the first 6 picks this year, and I wouldn't be shocked at all to see just 2 selected after 6 picks. That will be the "shocker" to the draftniks who's mock drafts shit the bed, again. 1. Sam Darnold - Browns 2. Bradley Chubb - Giants 3. Josh Rosen - Jets 4. Quenton Nelson - Browns 5. Saquon Barkley - Broncos 6. Minkah Fitzpatrick - Colts
I'm trying to figure out the Giants Motivation for this trade, but I can't put my finger on it. Then again, I've got to hand it to the Buc, they pickup a valueable part to a defensive line for low cost.
Not a low cost they will be paying JPP a guy on the downside 19 million next year..the whole point of the Giants trading him is to take the hit now and not pay him next year.
1. Could the Giants be going for Chubb at 2? 2. Could the Giants trade with the Browns and get Chubb at 4? 3. Could it mean absolutely nothing and the Giants getting something for someone who they were going to cut in a year? I lean more towards scenario three. Just getting soemthing for a player a year before they were going to cut him. I think the Giants will hold onto number 2 until the week of the draft or night of and if they trade get three ones from Buffalo and some twos and threes they'll trade. If not I think they can go anywhere from a qb to Barkely or Chubb. Adds more intrigue with over a month to go.
