Hiring Adam Gase would definitely excite the fan base..........................s of the other 3 AFC East teams.
Well all reports are that the Jets were the first interview McCarthy accepted so I assume he's coming or the FO is going. As far as time, there are legistics you have to consider. Travel time, 5-6 hours for the interview, schedule of candidates. Even with a private jet, you have to file flight plans get them approved. If McCarthy takes the Browns job without interviewing any where else, it was already his choice and interviewing him would have been a waste of time any way. Every team is looking for the next McVay. Nothing wrong with interviewing potential candidates. What would you be carrying on if they were interviewing 4-5 Defensive minded HC like the Browns are reportedly doing? At least they know what direction they want to go and aren't relying on Casserly of an outside firm to make the hire for a change. It's a step in the right direction.
He'd be a good, solid hire for the Jets with upside.b It looks like he has a big fan in Peyton Manning who knows perhaps he'd be able to talk him into giving Darnold some pointers or joining the organization as a consultant in some capacity.
1 and 1 against NE and Buffalo this year 2 and 0 against the Jets. 4 and 2 in the division. Sounds like a potential playoff team.
Part of something Rollo posted in the "Political/Racism Thread" troubles me about Gase, if true: HAving confidence in yourself is great...being an asshole, not so much. Recipe for conflict and dissension - NOT what the Jets need.
Im glad they are leaving no stone unturned, by we should pass on this guy. Above all we need a leader of men.
Between Gase and Kingsbury making the list, you have to wonder what exactly it is that Maccagnan and Johnson are thinking with regards to this search.
I don't think they offer him the job, but you always have to do your due diligence. Other than the Bowles of the world...coaches can change. Coaches can learn from their mistakes. And not every head coaching interview is conducted with a specific HC in mind position by the Jets. Maybe the Jets just want to gather intel on Gase and once someone like McCarthy is hired, present that info to assist McCarthy in putting together a staff. If Gase isn't hired as a HC for 2019, he's going to end up on somebody's staff We interviewed Bill Callahan in 2009 to be our head coach. Rex eventually won the job but who was added to the staff and did a terrific job as an assistant HC to Rex and offensive line coach? Bill Callahan
Apparently he's young and pompous enough that he's not ready to change. He doesn't give a shit. This isn't Tom Coughlin learning he needed to change. This guy sounds like a dick and unless you suck the dick, you're gone.
Hope this is just a fishing trip. Dont want a HC who cant control talent around. Interview anyone and everyone. Just some people must be for due diligence. Sent from my SM-G610Y using Tapatalk
In the case of Gase, it's due diligence. In the case of Kingsbury, its the potential of landing the next great young innovative offensive mind. Two different thoughts.
I hope he gets the job. He did some good things in Miami. Modern coach, 40, if it works out here with Darnold he could be the HC here a long time.
I hope he doesn't get the job at all, let alone before we even bring in the good candidates for interviews.
He works well with QBs. Peyton Manning is a big fan of his. I'm reading he was loyal to a fault with Tannehill. WHY?? I'd like to know he didn't draft him. Is there any doubt that Sam Darnold would love having this guy as his head coach? Gase checks off many of the boxes I'd like to see from the new HC: Previous experience - check Works well with QBs - check Modern - check Upside - check
