Okay, now that we can finally talk Free Agency, here are the Top 5 guys I'd like us to pursue: LeCharles Bentley C New Orleans Saints Ma'ake Kemoeatu DT Baltimore Ravens Kevin Shaffer OT Atlanta Falcons LaVar Arrington OLB Washington Redskins Anthony Weaver DE Baltimore Ravens
Last I heard Bentley was on his way to Philly. We need to definitely bring him in for a visit. On the plus side, even if we fail to act on Bentley. With a new CBA deal, suitors should be linning up to take Abe off our hand. Atlanta's pick, and Mangold sounds pretty good to me.
I honestly think thre jets should offer a big contract to Lavar Arrington to come and be our willie McGinest...
well before we get to crazy with our wish list, has anyone confirmed how much money the jets really got to work with here? i dont want speculations or "my best guess". I want to know what they are really working with now that the cba is finally done.
Bentley should be the top choice, but he's more than likely going to Philly. I was very high on Arrington, but I'm just not sure anymore. Furthermore, I'm not sure he can stay on the field all 16 games and since we're rebuilding, we shouldn't offer a big contract to someone with that risk. Right atop my wish list is Kemoeatu. He may be expensive, but he's young and he's a stud DT that we badly need. cheers
We had 14 million before the CBA was extended...not with that extension we will gain another 8-10 million dollars...so 22-24 million dollars...
At the minimum $10 millon for the cap increase, 8.3 millon once we trade Abe, 1.6 millon from cutting Mawae, plus 6 or 9 millon or whatever we saved from re-working Pennington plus how whatever we were under the cap from other otehr restructres prior to the Pennington deal on Sunday. It was said we were at $14 millon under the cap after the pennington deal before the Mawae cut if thats the case then we would be 33- 35 millon after trading Abe. Assuming we trade Abe thats most likely a minimum of $26 millon and probably well over $30 millon.
He's going to land with the Giants, you watch. He's already come out and said he wants to stay in the NFC East. Also said he doesn't want to play with the Cowboys. Eagles [The biggest loser free agency wise--in the cba extension] are probably not going to give him the type of money he's looking for. Leaving one team. Plus he'll be reunited with his old teammate Antonio Pierce who would resume his role of pointing LaVar in what position he's suppose to be in before each snap.
nobody knows for sure if abe counts against the cap...we dont know if the 14 million dollars we had was including abe
ok, thanks. that's what I thought but i just wanted to make sure. If that's the case then looks like alot of teams are going to get into bidding wars. I mean look how much more money teams like cleveland, GB and Min. have now that the cba is done. I just hope we can get 2 maybe 3 impact players in FA.
I want: LaVar Arrington LeCharles Bentley Brandon Llyod (Seems random, but he's really good, he just needs a good oppurtunity, and we need another WR) Andre Dyson Edgerrin James  although it'll never happen.
Abes number is already included in our cap figure. The franchise amount has to be included in your total when you meet the cap amount. So trading him will take 8.3 millon off our numbers. Thats for sure. It doesn't matter if he has or has not signed the tender the 8.3 millon is counted against your cap figure.
That doesn't mean we are anywhere near under the cap for next year, nor does anyone know if that number is real since it has yet to be confirmed anywhere other than someones basic knowledge of math.
