Given that we haven't won a championship nor gotten to a superbowl in my lifetime, yesterday was probably my most memorable experience since I've been a Jets fan, more than 25 years. My wife and I were attending a fundraiser at the Hilton in Teaneck, when I told her I wanted to take a walk in lobby because we had been sitting for so long. So we stroll down the lobby and meander off towards this high end restaurant, and we're standing outside of it by ourselves bullshitting and then all of a sudden who comes walking out of the restaurant all by themself, but Rex Ryan! He was wearing his Jets hoodie and sweats. I'm in complete shock before I finally call out, "Yo what's up Rex!" Hahaha! I couldn't think of anything better to say I was in such shock. He looks at me and says what's up and then puts his head down and kept walking. I turn to my wife and I'm like, Holy Shit! Rex Ryan!" I couldn't believe it! Then, while I'm trying to recompose myself, all of a sudden, one by one, the TEAM starts to walk out of the restaurant! Mind you there are no fans here, no families, nothing and no one except my wife and I standing in front of this restaurant while the team is walking out. So, as they each are walking passed me, I have no idea what to do and I know I gotta do or say something so I start encouraging them like a crazed lunatic, "Yo, go get it tomorrow! Take this tomorrow! Yo do this! Take it for us tomorrow!" Hahahaha. They're all looking at me like: "Who's this crazy dude." Ed Reed looked at me and started busting out laughing. It was like having my own personal linewalk like they do at the home games. If somebody would have offered me this opportunity, I would have paid $500 for it no problem. After they had all passed and either headed out of the hotel or to the bathroom, it took me a good five minutes to compose myself I was so europhoric. I realized then that I had left my phone back in the ballroom. So, I ran to get it to try and get some pictures, but by the time I retrieved it, I was able to snap only one shot before my phone died, of Kellen Winslow carrying his play book. No matter, the moment will forever be etched in my memory and will remain one of my top fan moments ever. https://twitter.com/DavidHattem/status/407177007764480000/photo/1
