Its seems everyone here wants nothing to do with him because of his off field antics. which to my knowlege consists of.

    - making a joke at school (please...)
    - stealing a crab leg from a grocery store (this is immature for sure)
    - accused of raping a girl. (this is obviously serious, but it is not proven and he is not convicted... some crazy girl accused kobe bryant of the same thing, if we drafted the kobe bryant of the NFL i think we would be in a good position concidering he is one of the greatest NBA players of all time... if hes convicted of rape then yeah dont draft the guy, obviously)

    On the field however:
    - hes a heismen winner as a redshirt freshman

    - currently HAS NOT LOST A GAME IN HIS CAREER (holds the record and counting) (obviously unlike geno)
    - If you watch him play he always goes through his progressions in a pro style offense (unlike geno)

    - can make plays with his feet (although not as well as mariota)

    - most importantly IF and when he makes a mistake, he holds himself accountable and stays focused and rally his team. last night he had a career high 3 picks and came back to win by playing extreamly well (on a twisted ankle) to close the game out, kid is a winner and has mental toughness (unlike geno)

    - able to handle tough stressful situations from the media and (NCAA) fanbase due to the allegations above very well. Example : telling the media that when we were down 21-0 what were yall saying, but we bounced back thats the type of moxy that you need to play in NY and geno doesnt have it.

    - He also shows emotion when he plays, when he threw those picks against LOU he was visibly upset blaming himself and making sure his team knows hes going to turn it around which plays a part in inspiring them to come back and win. (insteand of standing stone faced on the sideline holding your shoulder bads like geno)

In gollege geno had a similar TD-INT ratio as mariota and played in a similar system as him. watching mariota play he tends to lock onto his primary target and when its not there he runs, and hes quick dont get me wrong but in the NFL every single player is going to be faster and its not going to work out the same. I also see him getting eaten alive in NY by the media and fanbase, and I dont see the same will to win as winston has.

TLDR: the "headcase" label on Jameis is way overblown, and he is the best player in the country and is built to play in NY. (at this point in time atleast, the draft is a long way away)

yeah I just hope its in NY! I personally feel like Mariota would be better off in STL or TEN.

As a football player I think he is a little more NFL ready than Mariota but even though I believe in letting a few mistakes go because he is young he's gonna be playing close to the city which could enhance his off field problems. You can't just ignore some of the complete dumbass things he's done knowing he's under the microscope and how to project how he would act given NFL money next to NYC.

I still think he has a chance to be a great NFL player over Mariota but I'm a little biased because I don't like Mariota as a NFL QB.

Phenomenal Quarterback skills, but he has too much baggage off the field for us to take him.

He's cool under pressure, and seems to recover quickly from mistakes, unlike that number 7 guy for us. His arm is ridiculously strong, and his 2nd half vs ND really opened my eyes, as he picked them apart and carried his team to victory. Great anticipation, and he destroys blitzes. His mechanics need work, specifically his release and footwork. Ideally you want your QB to throw with "an over the top motion". Instead, Winston tends to drop his elbow, thus slowing down his release, and there's no doubt in my mind that baseball has something to do with his slow release. Second, usually you want your QB to point his lead foot (front foot) to the inteded target, and to swing his back foot; the front foot serves as the foundation. This is what we call "driving the ball". While Winston does this every now and then, I see him depending on his arm strength way to often instead of beating the defense with proper footwork.

That won't work in the NFL. Lastly, in my opinion, he doesn't see the field well. I'm not sure if this happens, because of his poor eye vision, but his interceptions are just awful. Now, his interceptions yesterday were a result of the wind, but usually this is not the case. Fortunately, these issues are fairly easy to fix.

With that being said, he's a top five talent, and had he not been accused of rape It'd be neck and neck between him and Mariota.

You can do everything in college and still flop in the NFL.

I'm willing to bet he turns into just an average QB at best.

Is it so hard to take a guy that doesnt have a red flag? I mean really.

Does anyone here look at Winston as a guy that could lead a team to a Superbowl? After all isnt that the reason you take a QB in the top 5?

His negatives outweigh his positives by a wide margin.

He's very talented..and I'll even be willing to call him a good team leader. But things have never gone downhill for him on a football field. Chances are he will experience ups and downs on whatever team he goes to.

Im just not so sure he could handle the downs very well in NY.

It's also possible he's a really good college football player but terrible pro.

I think the same about Mariotta to an extent.

well he has an entire country thinking hes a rapist that would probably be a hard thing to handle, and he went off and won every single game of his college career.

being down 21-0 against the best defense in college (albeit by his own interceptions), in a hostile environment and then hurting your ankle is a hard thing to handle and he came back and won the game with 400 yards passing...

so many situations hes been down and came back to win which are tough situations to handle, especially when its not on your home feild, and hes won all of those games.

mariota dosent have the off field adversity and has for the most part lost every game that counts, how is he better equipped to handle loosing in NY and the NY media etc, ESPECIALLY since he has glaring similarities and the same problems more or less as enemy of the state he would be replacing. (geno),

maybe he can prove me wrong as there is still lots of college ball left to play, but i feel like if we have a top 5 pick we need to go QB and I think winston will have a far better career then mariota

Jameis really sold me last night. Sure I do not like his baggage (hate it in fact). The kid can play though and he does have that "IT" factor.

His media experience, if he straightens up, could be a huge boon for us.

Agree with Kobe references, also remember there are others (Big Ben) that this has happened to and have bounced back and been great pros. Maybe he did something wrong that night, maybe she's just a star chaser...who knows, but the fact is, he's not convicted.

How many QBs have won both the national championship in college and the Super Bowl in the Pros?

For the first time this year I'll go on record saying if Winston is available when the Jets are OTC that we should draft him if we can't trade down and get a king's ransom in return. Last night's game changed my longstanding opinion about this kid as well.

I'm not the biggest fan of Winston, but he's still a kid so I can forgive him for his off the field antics.

He is the much better prospect than Mariota.

His release is going to end up in shoulder problems down the line, but I think his potential for the next 10 years outweighs that chance. I personally like Mariota, but Winston is a great prospect.

Why did you include (unlike Geno) in every point? I think we're all very sure Geno is terrible.
