Yep, wifey will be there on business and so I figured I'd knock another item off the old bucket list. I always wanted to fish in NE since my college days and now I'll get my chance weather permitting. Question, has the New Tappan Zee Bridge been opened in both directions? I do want to see and drive it as I remember the rollercoaster that was the old Tapp. Do they use EZ-Pass there?

    Any info would be appreciated!

    Mrs C cooks meth?

Check out Rocky Neck. Bunch of groovy little shops and galleries and a few nice little joints on the water to slug a couple beers and choke down some oysters.

The new bridge is open in both directions, and if you don't have EZPass they scan your license plate and charge you a little extra.

I’m afraid I don’t but I can’t imagine they’re hard to find. The Clam Box in Ipswich is a pretty famous place not too far away but I’ve never bothered stopping and fighting the crowds.

Have a safe trip grandpa. Tappan Zee is open and they have Ezzpass. You are good.

What part of New England are you from? Wifey wants us to take a road trip all the way to Halifax and I dread it. Anything good to see north of Boston?

I’m from the north shore of Long Island but I’ve lived in Maine and New Hampshire for almost 30 years. Halifax is totally worth checking out. Get the Ferry out of Portland. Nova Scotia is really like going into a time machine. You’re on the coast of Maine twenty years ago.

I assume that you will be stopping here:

50 miles from I-95 in Bangor, right on the way to Halifax.

Absolutely worth it but your going to be taking a different ferry to get to Nova Scotia.

It’s a good bit of driving from Jersey though. You and the brood cool with long trips in the family truckster?

Edit: Actually, there is no longer a ferry service from Bar Harbor, so if you hit Acadia you really have to keep driving through to New Briunswick (kind of the New Jersey of Canada) before you get to Nova Scotia. As beautiful as Acadia and the coast of Maine is, you’re probably better off on the eastern coast of Nova Scotia. Just my opinion can’t really go wrong either way but it’d be tough to do both.
