    Indeed - I could be getting higher scores if I wasn't sticking to the 'realistic' goals.

    But it's a fun practice nonetheless - and it takes but 3-4 minutes per draft, so what's not to like?

    Your Future Picks:

    =================================================

    Other than OL, which received heavy reinforcements last draft, every other position got a fresh blood.

    2x OLB
    1x ILB, CB, FS, SS

    And:

    1x QB, TE
    2x WR --> Davante Adams and Kevin Norwood look like a real good combination. Could have been Jordan Matthews and Kevin Norwood as well.

    Only four project picks, out of 15. Gotta love that.

    Zach do you plan on going back thru this thread and seeing if any of your drafts were actually close to accurate? I've been meaning to get all mine together, and look at them all after the draft, but for people like us I feel like it would just take forever.

    Yeah. Of course.

    General principle behind my draft strategy was:

    1. Spend high picks on impact players - I thought very highly of OLB need, so unless I could land Eric Ebron or Mike Evans, I usually opted to trade down then get 2x OLB prospects. [Bortles slipping through 18 presented a monumental problem for me once. That was a fun draft...]

    2. 3rd - 4th: This was the backbone of the draft usually. I tried to address FS/SS/OL here, with TE sprinkled here and there [if ASJ dropped to 3rd, that is.] Also this was where I would take a swipe at McCarron. Usually, since I traded down, I had about 5 picks to work with in this region, at times 6+ [3+ in 3rd and 1 extra in 4th puts me at 7, for instance.] I rarely drafted just 4 in this region.

    3. 5th and below: Project picks, STers, and sleepers. Mostly offense guys. My usual targets were Devin Street at 5th, and Kevin Norwood at 6th.

    As a rule, I didn't include picks after 4th round as a compensation, as I felt that the value thinned out very quickly after 4th round, and I didn't feel like I could justify piling up on 5th round picks and beyond. I would take anything above 4th in trade as a result.

    ============================================

    So, when I look at the draft, I will see how my general strategy fit with the way Jets drafted, and then I will see how each individuals that I drafted matches with the way the FO thinks.

    So anybody ever get a draft in any way close to the Jets real one?

    I'm a little surprised of the hundreds of mocks, none of them seem to be even close. I figured at least one or two would have been somewhat close with the players at least.

    Not a coincidence. It's more about the flawed simulator than anything else.

    Quite obviously, the 'grading system' that they have skews the result considerably.

    Didn't know that thing even still worked lol, can you imagine if that site had the thing for the past multiple drafts? You could draft the most ridiculous team.

    I frankly prefer this draft over the one I did two posts ago.

    Rex might not like this, obviously.

    I do think, though, Jets already have enough enforcer type of safeties to man SS spot. They need someone with head - thus my preference for Ed Reynolds.

    The McCarron pick is more of a habit - Mettenberger was available, and you can swap the two. [I prefer that way.]

    And Jets get good OLB prospects x2, with TE/WR/RB replacements and decent FS/SS/CB prospects. [And a couple of OL help as well.]

    Also... the massive number of CB picks is... well. I felt Jets needed depth there. You could swap one or two with WR picks.

    Wanna post the link again? I'd like to do one, but deleted the link in my favorites, and don't want to go thru hundreds. upon hundreds of posts.
