He figures if Eagles can win with backup QB he can win with a veteran, expect Mcown to be starter again next season.
That was the toughest part for Jets fans last night. Watching Pederson coach an aggressive game against the Patriots, beating them, and becoming a World Champion, while realizing Todd Bowles is the exact opposite of him. That's tough. Oh well, glad the Eagles won!
Bowles watched the Eagles strip sack Brady last night and told Jets fans everywhere, "See, defense does win championships!!!!!!!"
I'm sure he watched the game, but I doubt he learned anything from it, or saw anything that he would adopt. What he should've learned is that in the modern NFL it's OFFENSE that wins championships, and risk-taking, These are two concepts he doesn't fathom and I don't think he'll change at all. That's the most depressing thing about seeing what the Eagles did last night.
Although watching 1000yds+ of offense in a Super Bowl certainly looked strange (Pro Bowl-ish) on the face of it, this is what the modern NFL looks like nowadays. Those teams that adapt to this brave new NFL world will thrive. Those that hang on to the past won't. Its really that simple. If Bowles wants to bring back the GnP, let him try it. Just will speed up the regime change.
It's ok. Bowles saw that you really need stud CBs to stop great offenses. His solution is taking a corner at #6.
Bowles probably turned it off in the third quarter because there weren't enough punts to suit him. What I'd really like to know is what he thought when he read this quote from Pederson: “You learn if you play passive, if you play conservative, if you call plays conservatively, you are going to be 8-8, 9-7 every year."
Bowles hopefully learned last night that playing a team who’s offense scored 33 points and without their one turnover probably would have scored 40, he should now know the way to beat them is try and be successful and score 41. I hope he learned something but I doubt it, he will continue to plat let’s stay close and hope we get a break at the end.
It has been argued on this board several times that MM is as clueless as bowles. Look at his draft picks--devin smith, lo mauldin, darren lee, hackenberg, 4 DBs and 3 Receivers in 2017, no decent OL drafted in three years. Oh, and the great value he secured in free agency--revis, fitzpatrick and wilkerson--the 3 WORST contracts in jets history!
It will affect the specific plays and formations, but it shouldn't affect whether you're aggressive or not. When you coach passively, you send a message to your players that you don't trust them, and in return they don't trust you and don't go all out for you.
I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't watch, football doesn't seem like it interests him that much, maybe he caught the halftime show or something
