Maybe watching an aggressive coach like Pederson have success changes the way he coaches.

Its hard to win with the most conservative HC in the NFL.

He watched it for the commercials. If there is anything Bowles learned yesterday it is that he needs TurboTax.

It won't change shit in Bowles mindset. He has his philosphy about football and the Jets will either sink or swim with that. With most other modern NFL teams, offense is most important but with the Jets, its still 2000 back when a monster D and a decent running game was all you needed.

Todd Bowles looked like this watching the Eagles go for it on 4th down towards the end of the game.

Yeap its all Bowles fault, even tho we've had Fitzpatrick and McCown at QB, yeap that makes all the sense in world. Lets be hyper aggressive with old journeyman QBs, mediocre offensive talent and a young defense talent. Genius!

But that’s actually the point - being aggressive is the right thing to do even if your quarterback isn’t a star. The numbers clearly show that being aggressive gets you wins even with average performance (and there’s no doubt that McCown was average enough this year); being aggressive with star quarterbacks (or quarterbacks performing at a star level) gets you Super Bowls. In my opinion the problem isn’t the talent; it’s the philosophy, and that comes from the coaches.

It isn’t even (just) being aggressive that is the real issue. The Eagles are by far the NFL team that uses analytics the most. Being aggressive is only one aspect of that. Right now the NFL is at the pre-Moneyball level that Major League Baseball was 20 years ago. There is so much low-hanging fruit just waiting to be picked, with an extra win or two just sitting there. Smart organizations are going to take yesterday’s game and say that this is how a backup quarterback can beat Tom Brady even when he throws for 500+ yards. In a few years every team will be doing it, and the advantages will dramatically fall. Unfortunately at the same time the penalty for being behind the curve will dramatically rise. Any downtrodden team that doesn’t go all in on this stuff is dooming themselves to 10 more years of being at the bottom of the barrel, and I greatly fear that the Jets will be one of those teams.

Does Mac ever get any blame on here these days? Or is it because Bowles isn't fiery enough jumping up and down on the sidelines that some of u have all made up ur minds in wanting him gone. U know who else doesn't act like a monkey on the sidelines, Bill Bilichick but i guess his poker face fits and doesn't fit the argument or message that he's a bad coach. All these Bowles attacks are unnecessary, were fanatics not insiders.

Most of you are results oriented but pretend you're process oriented.

If Bowles is aggressive and we lose he's dumb

    If he's conservative he sucks

I've seen him bashed for going for 2 and bashed for punting.

Pederson and Foles have a long history together. Pederson was suppose to go scout Osweiler, but instead went and scouted Foles back when he was the QB coach. Add in the run / pass option that seems to be indefensible and you got an offense that put up 41 points and didn't give up a sack. Defensively, the Patriots were awful as well, it was too easy for the Eagles. No pressure on the QB, secondary was trash. The Patriots didn't prepare on the defensive side of the ball.

Just like the read-option, defenses will eventually catch up and stop the RPO. Eagles have a great roster with great coaching all around. Foles is no slouch. I am not sure if the Jets should follow the Eagles blue-print, they need to find their own way.

Mac does no wrong around here. All of the bad draft selections are cause of Bowles.

I don’t think this criticism has anything to do with the GM. The fact is Bowles has shown to be pretty conservative. If Pedersen had played things the way we have seen Bowles play it, they would have lost. The 4th down trick play to Foles would probably not been in Bowles playbook. And the 4th and 5 with five minutes left down one on their own 45 turned out to be the difference in the game. They punt there, down one, and I am fairly certain they lose.

People can learn and grow. Hopefully Bowles did see how being aggressive paid off.

You have a point. Fans in general are like that. If the trick play at the one doesn’t work, then Pedersen would probably have been second guessed this morning.

I don’t think Bowles has been criticized on this board for being too aggressive though.

    Plus 10K

Pedderson has got that miracle formula ...released to the Football World last night

No one is giving him credit considering how high scoring the game was but Jim Schwartz having that front 7 rotating on D was brilliant..always fresh ..no one tired..At the end the DE strip sack ..hahahah

The Eagles now have Wentz in the wings and Foles??? Wow ! Now that's a GMs problem I would love to have!

We are bottom of the Barrel Nagle...let's face it ..: Woody a dipsh*t and no comparison to Luries; Bowles ..still practicing 1980s football..a GM more famous for his blunders than anything else; players in Jail..

What can I say but ...I am tired of FEH every year

Not true. He wanted Fitz back his second year, and in a no brainer go for it 4th and inches down from the 6 in the very first game of the season (and a drive where we were running it down the Bangles throat),with an entire season ahead to make up for it if he failed, he kicked a FG and proceeded to have us lose the game because our D, which was getting lit up all game, was never going to keep the Bangles out of FG range.

He’s had faith in his QB and was still a by the conservative book coach without a read for game.

Bowles probably thinks it's still November. This man has no idea how the space/time continuum works.
