There are incentives in there, too. 33 replies 139 retweets 129 likes Ian RapoportVerified account @RapSheet 11m11 minutes ago He's back: QB Jay Cutler is coming back. Sources say he's agreed to sign with the #Dolphins.
I figured Cutler would never come back because no team would pay him the salary he was accustomed to. Miami must not have paid attention to Cutler's career.
Cutler will do fine with Miami. He had his best season ever under Gase . He will have a good run game and plenty of quality Wide Recievers to throw to.He is familiar with the offense so he won't have to learn it. It was actually a good signing by the Dolphins.
Nothing better than signing a retired QB whose heart is CLEARLY not in it and only is returning for a $10 million+ pay day. Should go pretty well for the Dolphins. The defense is pretty good though, so as long as Cutler isn't atrocious, they can make a Wild Card push. If he is terrible, just start Moore. So decent risk but overall likely won't go well.
I wouldn't say his heart is not in it. He reportedly wouldn't agree to sign unless the Dolphins were bringing him in with the opportunity to compete for the starting job. If his heart CLEARLY was not in it, he would have jumped on the $10 million and happily rode the bench.
Ugh. Thanks for the reminder fellas! There is no doubt that Cutler for $10 Million will be much better value than Fitz for $12 million, but that is not the point. Still an interesting move by Miami.
His heart has never been in it. Part of the reason he's lost virtually everywhere he's been. Even his college team (Vanderbilt) improved after he left. Cutler was 11-35 in college and 69-72 as a pro. He's won one playoff game in 11 seasons as a starter. I'd guess Miami finishes no better than 8-8.
I'd take Tannehill over Cutler and I can't imagine why you wouldn't, assuming your goal is to win football games.
Considering Tannehill was the Dolphins starter, I think they would too. However, Tannehill is out, likely for the entire season so he is not an option. Cutler was the best option available to Miami. The over under on Miami was 7.5. 8 wins was their likely outcome prior to Tannehill going down. Tannehill and Cutler are about the same production wise Since 2012 : Both have a 63% completion rate , TD-Int ratio Tannehill 1.6 Cutler 1.5 Total QBR Tannehill 55 Cutler 58. Tannehill had much better weapons during that time. 4 days until their first preseason game. Who would you have signed ?
Omg... the Jets and Bills can beat Miami now Extra win I didn't figure on Hmmm... Hackenberg runs for the winning score on fourth and Goal probably Jets beat Miami at home 17-10..sheesh
Watch , Cutler has a career game week 3 and is injured prior to week 7 and Matt More lights us up again like last year. (18 passes 12 completions 4 TDs) . I'm losing hope for the upcoming season. Is it too early for a drink or two ?
