Since when does someone need an excuse for winning? Isn't that what they're supposed to do? By the way - they outscored their opponents in the second half eleven times that year. That helps a lot in winning games.
What's ridiculous about not being satisfied at 5-11, two years in a row? The guy's job is to win games and he's not getting better at it, he's getting worse.
What's the matter, Wally? Nothing to say? Why are you so quick to defend Bowles? Are you happy with the team's performance?
Who's defending Bowles? Just kind of amused by your dumb logic when you predicted he would be fired last year and now this silly nonsense comparing him to Kottite. He'll prolly be here for two years. Why would I care what you think about him? Except that he'll prolly prove you wrong, again. Lol
How will he prove me wrong - by winning? I didn't compare him to Kotite, I simply supported those who did. Kotite (.482) has a better W-L record than Bowles (.431) anyway.
Funny how that works eh? When Kottite stumbled into the job at Philly he inherited one of the best D's in the league and a playoff caliber roster. That '91 D imo is one of the best D's I've ever seen, run by Bud Carson too. And he still got his ass fired.
No, to me it doesn't sound familiar. I don't see any similarity at all. Good night. Don't let the bed bugs bite
It seems like a lot of people here get upset when Bowles gets criticized but nobody ever seems to come up with a reason why the criticism is unwarranted.
I'm not making excuses for Bowles, just pointing out how awful Ewbank was by your measure of losses (and therefore why your measure wasn't a good one).
I'm not talking about Rex or Mangini. I'm talking about Bowles. I would say blown coverages are exactly what I meant. If you see the same receivers running loose in your secondary and not make any adjustment is the epitome of what I was stressing. Lack of talent? There have been coaches that had less talent than Bowles and do more with it. That is no excuse.
Before we jump on the Bates for HC lets see how this year plays out. Bowles leaves alot to be desired as a head coach. That being said I don't think he is awful. I'd like to see how this team develops this year. The Jets haven't had consistency in awhile and alot can be said about that. Look at coaches that have been in their current jobs for 5 years or more. The team's are consistent playoff teams. Bowles got hurt because we didn't rebuild in year one we overachieved and everyone thought he was great. Year two we imploded and year three we overachieved again. He has something. Lets see how this year plays out and go from there. To add on lets see what Bates does with a bigger role. It's April. Lets see how Darnold progresses and what the team does before we go to another coach.
