Both have 11 catches on the year. ASJ has 90 yards 1 TD Herndon 145 yards 2 TDs Don't get the love for ASJ. He had less production than Jace Amaro
11 receptions for 90 yards and 1 TD Versus 11 receptions for 145 yards and 2 TDS ... the rookie is already out producing him, coming of a season he lost to a knee injury. All the ASJ love is just nostalgia for mediocrity.
Somehow missed this while posting my reply. ASJ did very little even last year and had a bunch of bad drops in the end zone. I don’t get the love for him.
ASJ is no where near that monster pass catching TE you would hope for and he wasn't very good for us last year. Have much higher hopes and aspirations for Herndon. Leggett is severely disappointing me.
Leggett just can't stay healthy. Don't think he will last past this season. Herndon has the potential to be a stud. Was under utilized at UM. Can catch and block. Hope we use him more.
I think you're probably misremembering. Here is the thread when he signed with Jacksonville: http://forums.theganggreen.com/threads/asj-to-jacksonville.90131/ I see one person positive it was a horrible decision to let him go, one person worried that he was going to be much better this year, and pretty much everyone else saying that he was at best average (and more likely below average), wasn't worth the money he wanted, and wouldn't be missed.
I skimmed the thread and there are several post that praised him, one celebrating his ability to block like on O lineman. There were plenty of others, before he signed that were very proud Jenkins. Suggesting Mac sucked for low balling him. Too many merged threads to go looking but I remember being challenged to name 1 team with a better TE Corp early last season. Another poster gave me a copy n paste of the salary of every TE in the league and suggested 7.5 mill was low for Jenkins as he was a top TE in the league.
Yeah, looks to me like he's having trouble getting thru the injuries and hasn't gotten comfortable, even the knee injury still. I think there's still a shot he can be in the rotation down the road if he can get his health in order. Sterling looks good, and so did Wolford, tho I don't know where Wolford ended up. Hoping that the corp can evolve into a force and that a couple of them can put Tomlinson away for good.
I agree. Tomlinson has been pretty suspect in pass protection and has had some very untimely penalties, two that wiped out TDs.
I was the person who thought it a horrible idea, and I was wrong. I thought ASJ would get better and better. Alcoholism must have taken a toll on him or he isn't working /trying very hard, or something else is wrong. He was pretty darned talented and effective in college.
I liked him coming out of school and wanted the Jets to take him in round two that year but he didn't last long enough for us. I think he is a classic case of someone who is too big and fast for the NCAA but his physical skills are not elite at the NFL level. He is a good player but not a great one, While I was sad to see him leave it was the right decision from a football stand point. That said I love that he's fighting to over come his alcoholism and make something of his life which was something my wife never succeed in. I'll always be a big fan of his just for that.
