And regardless of the "two year extension", everyone knows Bowles is just one more losing season from being fired. The only way that's attractive is if the new OC thinks he can take Bowles's job after he's canned. Does this team have a plan besides lurching from one ditch into the next? Oh yeah...how does this equal "stability"?
There's no way in hell Blowes will hire his eventual replacement. Whomever takes this job will probably be someone without aspirations to sit in the big chair. Another 1st time OC is probably in the cards bringing with him yet another system to install. Stability is indeed a two edged sword. You can be consistently good or consistently suck and in the Jets case, vacillation between mediocre and suck. That's stability Jets style..
I guess it depends on who's in charge of hiring coordinators. If it's Bowles, you can bet he won't hire anyone who could be seen as an heir to him. If it's Macc, then maybe.
This crazy stupid way to run a team is on Johnson Hire a vp of football ops and let that person run the show. Shitbowles and Mac should not be on Equal footing. One is a moron. The other is intelligent. Let a VP hire a GM Let the GM hire a coach Simple
Not a fan of Morton or toilet Bowles, but I'm glad Morton is gone. We have the #1 pass catching RB in league history in Forte, the O-line was struggling to protect the QB, where were the screen passes? Where was the misdirection to slow down the rush? The delayed hand offs? Why did it take so long to call the plays in? These are all coaching mistakes that are unacceptable. Jets probably won't do any better with their next bad coaching hire but they won't do any worse than Morton.
If out of nowhere this guy Jeff Christiansen is mentioned for OC or for the coaching staff then we can start connecting the dots to Cousins. Wonder if any of his other coach's are free. If so be interested to see if they get connected. http://www.nbcsports.com/washington...qb-coach-helped-him-refine-his-game-last-year If so might be a sign Cousins is coming here.
So the Jets are gonna sign some QB coach from an academy as OC in hopes that Cousins follows? What could go wrong? lol
The bolded sentence isn't necessarily true. When Schottenheimer left, I thought there was no way possible that the Jets could hire someone worse. What did they do? They hired Tony Sparano.
As usual the Jets are the laughing stock of the NFL At least the Giants were smart enough to admit the regime they had were terrible and blew it up Now they have a tough savvy GM and Pat Schurmer in their sights as new HC Not us ...we have the psychodrama of musical OCs ...three already with Toilet B ..a historically bad Coach
Plus, there is the non-zero chance that the Jets will keep whatever OC they hire now after they fire Toilet B and saddle the next HC with leftover coaches instead of allowing him to start with his own team.
The bolded paragraph is in my opinion the only thing that matters for us moving forward. He is a lame duck and no one wants to come here. He is not respected as a head coach by his peers nor as a strategic football person. So extending him and then firing the OC while retaining the DC was one of many ill conceived no foresight moves of this sorry leadership. Until we remove the ownership from day to day decisions and install a no shit VP of football operations that absolutely knows his stuff, someone that can attract a real HC, we will be in no man land for ever.
Ya know we ain't getting Haley or some other name OC with a track record of success in the NFL Woody doesn't pay for quality experience. Nah it'll be another no name entry level hire. I'd love to read the story on why they fired Morton. The gave him **** to work with yet he came close to making chicken salad out of it. The Jets are a absolute mess right now. The NFL off season hasn't even begun yet the Jets are already sending off bad vibes for 2018 by firing Morton and Anderson's arrest. What's next? They pay Cousins $30 million per year? *gulp*
