They had 1 timeout so if they ran and got stuffed then they’d have to use the timeout and only have 1 play left unless they passed on 2nd down in which is what they did in 1st down.

I like Allen quite a bit as a prospect, and I REALLY liked Wentz as a prospect.

Allen will need more development and the right system around him tho, where Wentz was a better prospect imo.

If you draft Allen, the WCO is not a good fit.
In that event, either Morton would need to change offense, or we'd need to change coordinators.
I guess if Defillipo is available I'd be interested, but has he ever called plays in an offense?

Nope, I think Frank Reich calls the plays and Defillipo coaches them up, so you will get another first time coordinator calling plays. I think Allen is a lesser Wentz as well, not a lot on tape, but has some good skill-sets.

I have had Twitter since 09 I think? I follow most of the beat writers. I blocked Manish in 2012 I think. He has been an embarrassment for so long. I don't get how league circles still take him serious, let alone Jets fans. I've never seen a writer be that pathetic, honestly. Always trying to stir up trouble, always having a clear agenda that any intelligent person can see, always with his "anonymous sources". Such a joke.

Not quite sure why the Jets would even consider a change. This was Morton's first year as an OC and the offense was more than competent with a questionable cast that included a journeyman QB, a WR corps lacking its top WR and full of late-rounders and undrafted FA's, and an oline that could make prime AP look like dogshit. I would actually consider promoting him to head coach next year if Bowles shits the bed again (which he inevitably will).

While Allen is not as polished as Wentz, I think we can agree they have similar skill sets. If Wentz is a good for Defillipo's WCO, why would Allen be a bad fit for Morton's?

Reid has a spread component, Peterson uses the vertical offense concepts, but I think McCarthy and Morton runs closer to a true WCO

Isn't Allen's game more suited to the vertical offense than a true dink/dunk WCO?

It does, that's what makes Dephillipo a better fit in terms of coaching up Josh Allen

Allen has a great arm but struggles with his accuracy downfield more so than he does short.

Probably because a lot of people are lazily tossing around the Hack comparisons. Bortles is probably the better comp.

We may be underestimating how poor the talent was around Allen this year. Playing with NFL caliber talent during Senior Bowl week should tell us a lot more about him.

I mean does he even throw the ball short well? He has to stare down his receiver and throw it to him. I mean on the run the kid can throw 50 yards down the field. Seems like a Wentz clone to me. Wentz does the same, but is accurate all around.

His highlight videos seemed to suggest he has good mid to long range abilities. Maybe they were slanted that way to impress..

I wouldn't say well but he throws it certainly better than long. He can throw it probably 50, 60 and probably 70 yards on the run easily but how accurate is he when doing so. Even the biggest Allen fan would admit that he struggles with accuracy. This year he was rarely throwing from a clean pocket or to guys who are getting much separation. He also plays in an offense loaded with "big boy" throws but no "big boys" running the routes. Based on that I maintain that his accuracy is better than his CMP% would suggest. The question you have to ask yourself is it the type of inaccuracy that would prevent you from being able to run a functioning offense (i.e., Petty and Hack) or the kind you can scheme around. I think the recent crop of Spread QB prospects with inflated CMP%s on one end and what we've seen from Hack on the other end has muddied the waters a bit, in terms on how we judge accuracy.

The PFF numbers say his downfield accuracy is not very good. To be fair downfield accuracy number can change year to year. I remember 2 years or so ago Bortles was near the top of the league in that category and the next year near the bottom. Note Allen's inconsistency is one of the reason I like Bortles as a comp.
