    So he took a big risk in breaking a rule but got almost no advantage from it? Talk about a bad risk/reward ratio.

    Be careful what you wish for.
    Bill Belichick might be blaming himself for even needing a two-point conversion at the end of the Patriots’ 20-18 AFC Championship Game loss to the Broncos Sunday.

    Stephen Gostkowski’s missed PAT in the first quarter came back to bite the Patriots at the end of the game when they needed two points and failed. Gostkowski, who had only missed one PAT in his entire career before Sunday, likely missed because the PAT was pushed back to the 15-yard line. And you know who wanted that change? That’s right — Belichick.

    “I personally would love to see the kicking game remain as a very integral part of the game so that the kickoffs are returned and so that extra points are not over 99% converted because that’s not what extra points were when they were initially put into the game back 80 years ago, whatever it was,” Belichick said back in January 2014.
