getting taken advantage of by a special teams ace like Sproles is one thing, but dammit that punt team turnover TD was atrocious. NO adjustments? no timeouts to stave off an obvious mismatch? this is a huge problem.
They looked like shit. The worst ST unit we've had the last decade. We can't defeat the Pats if we're giving up points on specials. Clean it up now. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I was hoping they would just take the safety instead of trying to punt from the end zone. Then they got incredibly lucky on the onside kick that followed. That shit needs to be cleaned up. Btw, the new onside kick rule really neutered that part of the game. I heard the announcers say there have been 18 onside kicks this year but none have been successful. The Redskins should have been the first.
There is no way Bowles let's this sh-t go. Literally every team with a decent PR is a threat. We've been lucky it hasn't cost a game yet.
We looked much more solid in kickoff coverage and even had a few decent returns, but that blocked punt and missed field goal back to back like that was terrible. It also looked like we were totally unprepared for that onsides kick.
It did. Check game 3. Sproles raped the punting unit hard. And Jarvis Landry had field day raping this punting unit. Good thing that didn't cost the game.
Westhoff was a great ST coach for us but he also suffered when the assets he was given to work with weren't that good. The Jets need to figure out the personnel thing on ST's because they are getting beat in the 1-on-1's.
Changes need to be made for sure. I have no problem with Stacey taking KO's, as Bowles explained this week why its not worth upgrading that. But Kerley doesnt scare anybody, Quigley continuously underperforms and the punt coverage while improved some today is a liability.
Jarvis Landry is a very good player. He's not fast, which is why he's not a star but he's a very good player.
What's your point? Punter always has the chance to kick the ball out of bounds. [Same deal with Sproles.] The point is, the punter has a choice to not even allow the chance to return; and Jets punting unit doesn't quite seem to utilize that option even when they must.
Ray Lucas told Westhoff on the post game show to take off his suit and get back on the field and coach this ST back to respectability lol. Achilles heel of this team FOR SURE. The Redskins ST coach was with us under Westhoff I believe, and he told Westhoff they would no doubt block a punt this week.
I don't get it. WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO REMAIN AN NFL PLAYER!?!?!?!??!?!?! HOW DO WE GET YOUR OFF THE ROSTER? I'd rather watch my high school punter give it a go. This dude shanks two out of every three punts. Coverage and blocking units have been pretty bad too but the punting game is the worst.
