First off let me say if the mods think this is out of line please delete. Something just came up today and I had never heard before so just tossing this out. So my wife has a part time job as a crossing guard. She said there is an old guy that comes by every morning and chats for a few minutes. This morning as he stops by a nice car pulls up and the driver says hi to the old guy, they chat for a few minutes and then takes off. The old guy then proceeds to ask my wife if she knew who Bruce Smith was, she doesn't, he explains he used to play for the Buffalo Bills. Since it still meant nothing to my wife she thought that was all on the subject but then the old guy says, "I know one thing about him that no one knows, he used to be my neighbor and he is gay". Now I don't know if it was actually even Bruce Smith but not sure why the old guy would have said all this since my wife doesn't even know a single player past or present. It did get me curious so I checked to see if there is a Bruce Smith that owns property in the area, there is not but he could have it in another name. All I have found says he still resides around VA but this could be a get away place since no one would think of looking for him here, who would expect a retired NFL player to live in Spring Hill,FL. I was kind of conflicted on throwing this out there so as to not intrude on the mans private life so once again Mods if you feel this is uncalled for please delete.
Why would the mods have a problem with that? That's what message boards are for and we are in the BS section... Thanks for sharing.. It's a funny story. Maybe it's true. He seems a little fruity but I wouldn't say that to his face. He is married with a son, not like that matters, just saying lol
Anyone who watched him play thought there was something a little "soft spoken" about him.. Dude was a BEAST though..
Well this is unexpected but it has always been understood that long time players in the NFL, even some really great ones, may have been hiding a secret like that. No matter if he is or isn't I still think he's one of the greatest players to ever play.
I heard he's black. Mods please delete if this is out of line;I don't want to intrude on his privacy.
Just thought since there was really no way to substantiate this that it may have been overboard. Even though this is just a message board doesn't mean people should just be able to post anything they want about another person, public figure or not, and I was somewhat conflicted on whether to post it or not.
