    Per Ian Rappaport: There is an agreement in principle for Alex Smith to go to the Redskins. The deal will be finalized tomorrow. This means Kirk Cousins will be a free agent

    This also means Mahomes is the real deal. It sucks that I’m not the GM of the Jets.

    Huge development despite forum discussions basically having Cousins as a free agent a foregome conclusion.

    Think this also prevents Washington from trading up into the top 10 for a QB.

    49ers thought the same thing when they traded Smith away to let Kaepernick take over.....That didn't pan out.

    Lol you don’t think Andy Reid knows a franchise QB when he sees one? Face it the Jets passing on Mahomes to draft a mediocre safety prospect was a mistake.

    So are the Skins just foolish or is Kirk not who he's made out to be? IMO he's top 8-10. Which is someone the Jets can afford to have on their side.

    Washington has a ton of needs, Smith is cheaper, Cousins would have likely had to be tagged a third time putting his salary at $34.5 million for 2018.

    This IMO drastically helps the Jets with the QB position. We either get Kirk or one of the draft QBs drops to us

    Guess they don't love him after all, but I don't think this affects the Jets all that much - I wouldn't have thought that they would have enough to trade to be able to move up from #13 to #5 or higher.

    Per Adam schefter - Kansas City is expected to receive a second-round pick from Washington for Alex Smith and possibly more, per source. But a second-round pick was the price as of this morning, before trade between KC and Washington finalized.

    And per Ian rappaport - Alex Smith is getting a new, multi-year deal with the #Redskins, source said. It was part of the deal getting done.

    The Jets have the money to sign him. The biggest obstacle was whether the Skins were going to franchise him again. Now they won't
