I was a Baker fanboy and wanted him as a Jet. I felt we needed someone with his kind of fire and passion...despite some negative attributes. I also thought we'd have no shot at getting Darnold...who I thought (and still believe) is a better quarterback. Hell. I like 'em both.
I loved Mayfield and didn't want Darnold. Darnold's TOs scared me. I admit I was wrong about Darnold and am glad that we have him. I still think Mayfield's gonna be a very good, if not great QB in the NFL and I would have been very happy to have him as well. I'm glad that we didn't wind up with Rosen (although he may wind up being a very good NFL QB as well) and am ecstatic that we didn't wind up with Allen.
I was a Darnold supporter and Mayfield and Rosen were a toss-up for me. I think I posted Rosen over Mayfield on one of the "go on the record threads" and then changed it at the last minute to Mayfield over Rosen on some other thread. Anyway, I like what I've seen from Mayfield so far and put him and Darnold about even at the top of the class. Though there's still a ton of time for that to change; I don't think evaluating a QB makes sense until his second season.
I think we should wait until end of 3rd season to evaluate this class. First impression shows Mayfield and Darnold are winners and Rosen and Allen are losers. We shall see
But I don’t think we need to wait three years to agree that Mayfield can play in this league. Notwithstanding the protestations of some dudes who Baker apparently stole grade school lunch money from.
Not this time. At least not here. ^^ Yep, I agree. Looks like he can play imo. Thought so pretty early. I'm a fan too so I was watching closely. Never considered we'd get Sam but was, and still am, very happy we got him.
Wait- did Baker Mayfield just win the Rookie of the Week Award? Again? For the second time? In 7 weeks? Yeah, this guy can't play in the NFL. And some idiot keeps trumpeting that "baker isn't looking so good these days".
But he "doesn't use the center of the field", "can't see over Olinemen", "is a bad guy" , "doesn't have the arm talent", and has a small penis?
I watch all the games when the Jets are on the road and all the tape when we're home. He looks very much like an up and down rookie QB. More so than Darnold. I have no idea watching him how good he'll be. Thats an honest appraisal. That he is the real deal and a real QB at this point and we all know it is pure and total nonsense.
Tebow couldn’t play. Hack couldn’t play. Plenty of guys you can tell can’t play. I know you hated the guy coming out but it’s obvious that he can play. Is he going to be a star? Who knows. But he’s already changing that franchise. I get it, you hate him. Probably root for him to fail so you can claim you were “right”. He was a player at the highest level at Oklahoma and he hasn’t done anything to show he can’t play in the NFL.
Not sure why these dudes continue to show up here to dump on a player not on the Jets. Let it go. I’m an NFL fan and I like to watch good players. I’m not rooting for anyone to fail. Other than Patriots. Hell, if Teddy played NO would be my second favorite team.
OK, Tebow and Hack makes this desperation time, right? I didnt hate him. I hated all those who were infatuated with the guy because, you know, he has fucking moxie and would be cool and Broadway Baker. Even better yet is the bestest arm and most accurate passer.....EVER. And attacked anyone who didnt think he was the best of the 4 top QBs. Over and over, no matter the conversation. He hasnt proven that he will be a good NFL QB yet either. Same shit at work as when he was in school.
Actually most respond to those who just cant let their heart throb go. Have to bring up that he got the fan vote this week for rookie O player of the week or some other glowing report of his play. But when someone says hes playing ike a rookie and its hard to judge him it becomes you dont watch the games and just hate him? LOL, Ok
