From PFT.com: Seahawks RB Shaun Alexander, less than three weeks from free agency, apparently had Charlotte on his mind while in Honolulu: "I never really thought I could be with another team. But it was neat to be with the Carolina guys."
well, just to get this thread on track, I've never held Alexander to a high regard ever since what he did last season (the whole backstabbing thing). I just wish he would stay quiet.
He should stay with the Seahawks, but if he wants to go to Carolina that could be some championship caliber team. I know he is good, but is he going to be able to do what he did this year without Pro Bowl Fulback Mack Strong blocking for him?
I'd love to get Foster, he'd be a good pickup, and maybe we'll have the cap room for one mid-salary player like him if we get all these restructures done.
It is a good idea to pick him up,and why not make a RB team just like the steelers had this year, having a very fast RB and a big heavy one so it is a change of pace in our running game.
let's tear this down, let's say I am Shaun Alexander, I am a player from a Super Bowl team and I am going to be a free agent this offseason. I have two choices, stay or test free agency Stay: Why? because I want to win a championship, that is more important to me than money, my team will be back at the Super Bowl and they need me, Of course I will like them to pay me enough because I deserve it from my work, but of course we will reach an agreement. Test Free Agency: Why? Because I want money, and big amounts of it, show it to me, Arizona type of team? not going to the Super Bowl next year but I will have big money, and that is why I played like that this year for the money. Different Alternative: Maybe if I test free agency I could land on a good team that have a good cap situation, and could finish in the Super Bowl or maybe with more opportunities to win it, hmmm... Carolina is a good team, they may just need me to win the Big thing. Cons: Am I going to be able to do the same thing with another team, I mean a new offensive scheme, no Mack Strong so it will be a different blocker and a different O-line to run with, but I will have the money and a Multi-year contract. So that's all for the Tony Kornheiser impersonation
If he goes to Carolina, they have the coaching staff to know featuring him makes Steve Smith BETTER and vice versa. Get another WR to complement Smith and look out you have a tough team to stop, particularly if you can avoid season ending injuries to key players on Defense. Delhomme, Smith, Alexander, Another WR plus Julius Peppers on D...Wow
That really nailed it. Totally dangerous with that kind of talent, and thats not even taking in to consideration the coaching staff.
