If Sam gets us into the playoffs next year and has as good a year as Trubisky had this year it would be a fantastic season for the Jets.

    Don't forget the fumbles.
Sanchez was a turnover machine. Also wasn't a threat with his legs.

It would and its also very unlikely. Which goes to show how much work needs to be done before we start making bold proclamations

This is a bit of revisionist history.

Mark had no problem taking hits in 2009 and 2010.

It wasn't until Wayne Hunter nearly got him killed in 2011 that he started to melt under pressure.

Trubisky outperformed Darnold statistically, but he was in his second year and had a better coaching staff and supporting cast. In Trubisky's rookie year, he was statistically worse than Darnold. So I still think Darnold is the better QB, but if Darnold doesn't make the second year jump I expect then I'll change my mind.

    This.

Kill Mark for 2011 and beyond but he was a big part of what we did in 2009-2010.

I get it, some of you dudes hate the guy but I cannot forget what he did in those first two years.

Sanchez was terrible in 2009. He wasn't terrible in 2010, but he was a below average QB and still the weak link on the team. If we had a league average QB either year, we could have easily won the Super Bowl.

I'd much rather have Darnold on this team than Tribuski, as I believe Darnold will develop into the better player.
But Tribuski was better in 2018 if just looking at this season.

I know Trubisky was better this year, but that's comparing apples to oranges.

We probably could have won the SB twice in 2009.

We're not looking at Darnold/Trubisky as a static thing.

Well, the Captain Literal guys are but we're-at least I am talking about the relative stature of both players.

Of course Trubisky performed better in his second year with a better roster and better coach.

That's obvious but a literal interpretation of the discussion.

Better question--how many of the 32 GMs would choose Trubisky over Darnold?

    Right now.

Trubisky is better so he's the choice, right?

Jameis Winston, Blake Bortles, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Case Keenum, Nick Mullens, Eli Manning--all better QBs than Darnold in 2018.

    We are SO fucked.

    that is a better question.

i think Tribuski took a major major step forward from last year, where he really struggled.
great size and speed combination, and showed a lot of toughness in his play.
got better as a passer, but still needs lots of improvement.
remember he only started 1 year at college, and is still pretty green.

That said I still see the better upside in Darnold, and would take him all day.
Let's hope he can take a major step forward like some of these other sophomore QB's were able to do.

Would you take rookie Darnold or rookie Sanchez?

Na, Mark Sanchez was bad from day one. So bad to the point the N.Y Yankees had to show him how to slide. Not only that, but Rex Ryan and company had to use Green and Red signs for him in PRACTICE. To make it even worse we were forced to A.) Run the ball more than any team in the league and B.) Pass the pass fewer than any other teams (during 2009/2010 combined). Sanchez was a weak link and an awful signal caller from the jump I'm just so much of a homer I believed in him until I couldn't believe any longer.

    Darnold without a doubt.
We didn't have dumb things down to color codes for him, and he was still able to protect the football better.
