Some guy from New York just called into Sirius NFL Radio and said he just heard that Abe was traded to Houston. The radio hosts said they had not heard anything about it, so I assume someone is just making shit up. Any of you guys heard this at all?
Well, no one is supposed to know about it until then is more like it. We're not dealing with boy scouts here....
Can not say..I think Houston trading this early before the draft is a big mistake. I cannot see Houston being that stupid if it did involve there 1st round draft pick. The phones during draft day will be ringing off the hook where most deals get struck. Unless it involved there 2nd round and I'd like to see a 4th in there too..I think strething by saying a 3rd also
Today is Wednesday. So, he can't be traded. Rumors could come out that he WILL be traded soon, but nothing can be officially announced until Friday.
Very unlikely since nowhere has reported a deal and you almost never see trades that involve a big pick like that this early.
Can an agreement between the two teams be announced though? Like: "The New York Jets and Houston Texans have agreed to trade...blah blah blah. The trade will be finalized on March 3rd." I swear I've seen this done before.
Yeah, think it sounds like a way to get the rumors going..Houson definitely has the cap room..but I think talk like this would be in the preminilary stages if anything. If this came out late March I might bite and get the wheels turning..but not this early..
You would see something like that on ESPN, or NFL.com. The official web sites wouldn't say anything until they can make it official.
off topic but i had to say it, buc, as nicely done as your banner is, you DO know who the original three amigos (of the nfl that is) are? think denver broncos of the 80's.
The thing is the Texans know they have competition for Abe, so they would have to obisoulsy pull the tigger first in a deal for him.
Ah. you gotta love the offseason. Where people are so grasping to post something interesting about the team that the baseless rumors fly like snow.
Wait, I was under the impression that Abe hadn't signed the tender yet for being a franchise player. This would not allow him to be traded. Am I mistaken or is this rumor impossible?
Houston is not giving up the #1 in this years draft in a straight up trade for JA! Not unless the Jets inlcude their #1, JA and maybe even more. The #1 overall pick has outrageous value.
