Gore left the pocket late so Adams got antsy and delayed blitz when he saw the pocket collapsing. Undisciplined play by Adams. I will say he got held by one of the offensive linemen.
They had chances, Darnold overthrew a wide open Q and then the INT after the defense recovered the fumble. They just come up short, I don’t know what the solution is at this point, how do you change those outcomes? Defensively it’s more of the same, they make plays but also give up big plays at the most inoportune time, it’s been the same for 4 years now. Skrine is just Skrine, the scary part is that there is no one who they can replace him with so it’s lesser of all evils. Jets are able to keep games close but do just enough to lose.
They played the Same Ol' Lions. It was a demonstration of the bizarro-world version of the Irresistible Force Paradox.
Darnold is going to make mistakes, for sure. However, there's a huge issue when his supporting cast doesn't do much to make up for them. No highly contested catches, no big plays to turn bad passes into catches, none of that. That's a result of having a lot of good players, but no elite players.
I don’t know how ready he is to play in a full time role. Maybe if he gets a little more comfortable with the scheme they can give him a shot.
i fyou guys are blaming the defense fo rthis loss, youre retarded. The 3rd and 19 was a disaster but the offense lost this game guys......OBVIOUSLY
Did the offense leave points on the board and turn ther ball over multiple times? Absolutely, However, at the most inopportune moment (ie. toward the end of the game on third and 19) the defense played badly. With the amount of resources poured into this unit, it can be argued that they still are making too many boneheaded mistakes.
You cant pick one play or series and say thats why we lost. Who says the Offense was gonna score 8 if we stopped them? Terrible pick by Darnold. Terrible fumble by Anderson Terrible play by Pryor not making a play on the ball on SAM'S 2ND PICK The drop by Herndon Not scoring anything at the half Sam throwing the ball away too soon in the End zone O line not giving Sam good protection The defense gave up 20 pts...shut out Dolphins in 2nd half. The two TDs they gave up were with short fields off offense's turnovers. The offense lost the game
Nice post. You can also throw in the two sacks on 3rd downs that got negated by holding penalties in the secondary.
When Tannehill fumbled the football on the Jenkins play, we should have ran the ball. Tried to go for it all on 1 shot. Wasn't smart. Bates wasn't great and should have included Powell more. How does he not get 20+ touches?
That was on the coaches. WTF were they doing stacking the box on 3rd and 19????? Shitty, shitty play call. Set up in a zone, give them the 5 yard pass for God’s sake I swear they are the dumbest defensive play callers ever. 1st and 10, they line up in a soft zone every time. Then when it comes time for 3rd and 19, let’s stack the box and go man. Fucking morons
I agree, and that's the biggest indictment of the defense. There's no question that they were far better than the offense was, but they still exhibited bad mistakes at crucial times and poor play calling. This was a complete team failure, despite what the numbers might suggest. (Let's not forget it was a comedown for the special teams too - the Jets had 1 punt return for 4 yards, Miami had one kickoff return for 34 yards and 3 punt returns that averaged 16 yards per return, and the Jets missed an extra point.)
It was a busted assignment, if everyone did their job, the Jets get the ball back. Everyone was looking for the splashy play on defense. Can't get pressure with 4 men, if they could then I am sure they would have called it. Its going to be a tough year for the pass rush department. Got 4 sacks, but Jets weren't getting constant pressure. Not like the Dolphins against us.
