Willie West, DB, 1964-1965, Oregon #22, Lee Riley, DB, 1961-1962, Univ. of Detroit (older brother of NBA coach Pat Riley) And before he came to the Jets he was involved in a trade with another noted RB who went by the name of Cookie Gilchrist. @matt robinson 17 Jim Hudson: who got thrown out of the 'Heidi' game (and ended up giving the Oakland-Alameda Coliseum crowd the finger as he left).
I know all about Cookie Gilchrist lol!!. my old man was a buffalo fan and wouldn't shut up about Cookie Gilchrist haha
I must be confusing him with another old NFLer. I just looked him up and saw that he weighed 235 pounds, and played for the Broncos, BIlls, Dolphins and then the Jets. I remember a RB who I thought was named Billy Joe, and would have sworn he played for the Patriots and I thought he weighed somewhere in the neighborhood of 270+ pounds. I remember a big, heavy RB who for the time was huge and while not very agile or fast, was hard to stop. Was there another RB that large at that time who played for the Patriots, or am I just remembering the wrong team? I guess it must have been him. 235 pounds was heavy for a RB back then, when many of them weighed 190-195 pounds.
Thanks. I'm either just remembering the wrong team for Billy Joe or confusing/mixing facts on Billy Joe and Nance.
Earthwind Moreland damn that's digging deep haha. great name though In our list of great jets names I nominate Siupeli Malamala
Yep, good KR, but he also fumbled a fair catch vs Jax and I almost lost my mind. That was the game where Pennington and Fiedler bother went down and I was shell-shocked for days. Don't ask me how I remember this bizarro fact, but Chad had a 19.73% passing percentage. I am in no way a stat hound, but sometimes PAIN will imprint. As a CB, all we did was scream turn your head! Turn your head! Later on, he got arrested for assault and was hiding in someone's garage. I hate the Jets.
hahaha I can hear that presser now "We're going to make the Jets great again. Believe me. Jets fans will win so much, they'll get sick of winning."
We did have Billy Joe on the 1968 championship team - he had played for the Bills before. https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/J/JoexBi00.htm
