Definitely. Cashman wants to rebuild the 90s teams from within while Levine and Steinbrenner want to build the team like the mid 2000s teams to fill the seats with big name players. The reality is that the ratings were down as it was because this was not a fun team to watch. I like Sale a lot, but you have to wonder how his antics would go over here. I imagine he would've been gone at the deadline if he openly battled the front office here. Chicago's obviously a huge market but it's nothing like the prestige and standards of the Yankees.
Severino looking like an ace tonight. Gary Sanchez debuted, is he gonna get some work at Catcher or just DH? Rumours A Roid could be released soon.
The way Singleton and that dolt Michael Kay were talking is that Girardo said he'll get plenty of opportunities to catch. My friend is a huge prospect guy and said Sanchez has a cannon but may struggle blocking the ball ala Posada. They should just release A Rod and be done with it. Say what you want about him but with his amazing 2009 postseason run he may have saved Girardi and Cashman's ass leading them to a World Series win. Who knows if those two are still here of the Yankees last World Series victory was 2000.
Wonder of he'll actually be worth jack sh-t in his new role of as special advisor. We are bringing up a ton of talent in the next few years. Maybe he can be worth something. At least it opens up a slot.
/presser just finished Question you guys: team's already acknowledged they're out of it with the Chapman/Miller/Beltran youth trades. Couldn't they have at least let him go for 700? Much as I like Girardi he's now blowing smoke with that "6 games back in the wildcard, stranger things have happened" comment. I admit I'm being sentimental (putting Arod's steroid's b.s. aside for a minute) but if Teixeira gets to play out the string, couldn't Arod be a player/bench mentor to the kids they're brought up? http://riveraveblues.com
See your point Joe but with all the taint on his career is there really a difference between 696 and 700?
I think they're leaving the door open for someone like Tampa or Miami to pick him up for the sideshow effect.
Point taken Matt, but you could see in Arod's eyes the moment he started to speak that he's not ready to hang 'em up and all 'taint' aside, doesn't he deserve not having the plug pulled on him so suddenly? Hell he's not even getting a 'final season/accept prizes' tour
Joe, I got spoiled by the Babe, the Iron Horse, Joe D, Mickey, Yogi, Met Stottlemeyer, Catfish, Thurman, DJ, Mo...he does nothing for me
I don't like A-Rod. I like what he did in the 2009 season. He actually played almost to the level of what he was being paid to do. Besides that, he was a huge disappointment. I wish the Red Sox would have signed him instead. I feel that way WITHOUT even talking about his cheating, steroids, and just being an overall piece of crap. I cheered when he would hit an "A-Bomb", happy with each RBI he would get, but mostly was not a fan. Good riddance.
^ TDK, much the way I felt about Reggie Jackson. You forgot Joe Pepitone : ) "I didn't know cocaine was illegal."
