Started over in Aussie already. Tennis is back!

Djokovic is in the easy half of the draw, should make the finals. Djokovic has Berdych in his quarter and Tipsarevic and Ferrer in his half.

Fed has Tsonga in his quarter, Murray has Del Potro in his quarter, both in the same half.

Azarenka and Wosniacki in the same quarter. In the same half as Serena and Errani.

Sharapova has Kerber in her quarter, Radwanska and Li Na in her half

Isner not playing, among others. Due to injury. Also Nadal of course and Nalbandian.

one of the men's quarters is really light on talent. The one with Lacko in it.

Serena is once again the prohibitive favorite to win. -110 odds to win the tournament.

Yeah, I'll be interested to see Nadal when he finally comes back around.

Djoko should be favored to win it. He probably shouldn't be forced til 5 sets until the final if he's on his game.

this is Djokovic's best major for sure.

He was favored (not sure the odds, probably like +175 or +200) but these days he'd be favored in any tournament he entered aside from clay if Nadal is involved.

These are the odds still up for quarters

ATP Australian Open Quarter Winners Third Quarter
    Mon 1/14 7:00PM
    all players have action
    Andy Murray -275
    Juan Martin del Potro +500
    Marin Cilic +1600
    Alexandr Dolgopolov +2200
    Gilles Simon +2500
    Gael Monfils +2800

ATP Australian Open Quarter Winners Fourth Quarter
    Mon 1/14 7:00PM
    all players have action
    Roger Federer -190
    Jo-Wilfried Tsonga +400
    Bernard Tomic +850
    Richard Gasquet +1800
    Milos Raonic +2500

I should've posted a who will win thread for the men but I never got around to it.

I'll post the big matches in vbookie (semis/final).

Serena double bageled her opponent in the first round, but also went down at one point with an ankle injury. She's now +money to win.

Djokovic's odds dropped for some reason.

    Serena Williams +110
    Victoria Azarenka +375
    Maria Sharapova +800
    Agnieszka Radwanska +1325

    Novak Djokovic -102
    Andy Murray +345
    Roger Federer +615

Its so hard to keep up with the time difference. I always seem to miss when the matches are on TV and then look at scores. I usually stay up/wake up for the semis and finals.

Too late to stay up, too early to get up. Although I prefer the matches shown live instead of tape delayed. Give me a shot to watch it live if I can.

exactly. a little earlier or a little later and I could try and do that and still get some sleep. Instead, it basically means I have to pull an all nighter. It's malicious on their part.

I did two of those last year.

I can always find a live stream even if ESPN is tape delaying.

The problem for me is I can't get that live stream from my computer to my TV. And watching tennis not full screen, the ball is hard to find haha

well all the streams I find I can do full screen. If it doesn't work I find a new one.

I don't even have cable, believe it or not. I watch almost everything on my computer.

It's funny because these days there isn't much sports on TV. You have football season (all the NFL except MNF and TNF, and also each channel does a weekly CFB game, usually) and not much else. Even the college postseason isn't on TV. 35 bowl games, 3 on TV, rest on cable networks. That includes the BS championship game and most of the big bowls.

The one big thing TV did have is March Madness, but there's always talk of moving it all to cable/satellite.

Mens: Really unfortunate knee injury to Brian Baker during his match vs Sam Querry. The guy worked his ass off for years to come back from one injury after another - what a shame.

Ladies: 17 year old American girl Madison Keys: has a bomb serve and forehand. Clobbered the #30 seed Paszek 6-2; 6-1. Next up (3rd round): #5 seed Kerber.

Misc.: I'd like to bang Wozniacki

Looks like Maria's finally joined Serena and the rest of the steroid crew in women's tennis.

I knew an Aussie would say that. :)

But as Americans, we're used to the sports world catering to us because we have such a large sports market. The AO is the one event I can't really watch due to the time.

6 AM Sunday unless there's too much rain!

    watching a replay of djokovic/wawrinka on espn3

incredible rally to conclude Wawrinka's second break of Djokovic in the first set.

24 shots, and Wawrinka hit some great ones, forcing Djokovic to run back and forth

Removing spoiler about Djoko vs Wawrinka match.

So the top half quarters are djoko/wawrinka vs Berdych and Ferrer vs Almagro. I believe ESPN stated Ferrer is 12-0 vs Almagro.

Then we have Chardy vs Seppi and Murray vs Simon. You have to believe Murray advances to the quarters and then advances to semis there.

Tsonga vs Gasquet and Federer vs Ronic. I'm not as certain to slide Federer into the Semis from here. Tsonga has done the amazing before on Federer and Ronic is a tricky matchup

Hopefully you didn't read my post Yisman, I removed the spoiler about the Djoko/Waw match

Wawrinka was up 6-1 5-2 and then Djokovic won five straight games! Classic Djokovic comeback (it's happened several times against Nadal).

I would've loved to watch it live but it was a 4:15 AM match.
