he definitely would have scored if he didn't trip

he tripped and then had to get up and try to start running again

I wonder if they would've called it had Middlebrooks not kicked his legs up. He was obstructing but it was part of the play; Middlebrooks couldn't really have gotten out of the way.

Are they still playing stupid boring baseball halfway thru the NFL season and with the NHL and NBA playing too?

If so, WHY? Nobody cares about watching the steroid infused standing around for minutes between pitches and 10 minute conferences at the mound 19 times a game

Boston seriously considering playing Napoli at third so they can get his bat in the lineup.

honestly I'd rather have him catch

Boston is lucky they're only on the road for three games I guess (although the other way they could've tried to win in 5 I guess and not return to STL).

lol, Last week, the pushing into the line rule and the Pats lose. This week, obstructing the runner and the Red Sox rules. Two correct calls and Boston fans lose it. Nice to see the calls going against Boston for once.

Yeah Boston is really lucky that they went out there and gave it their best in the All Star game to acquire HF advantage....

I still don't like how HF is decided, and will be bitter about it every year

Sox have shown a TON of respect to Beltran this series. Rightfully so

Absolutely unforgivable mistake by the Cardinals pinch runner to get picked off to end the game down by 2 runs.

    mind boggling

he wasn't even trying to take second

so how does he get caught leaning when he's not even stealing?

With one of the great postseason hitters at the plate...

As it turns out they would have been better off leaving Craig in to run - he would have been standing with his foot on the bag, so he couldn't have been picked off!

Allen Craig starting tonight. They wanted him in there against the lefty Lester. I guess he's doing well enough to play the field.

Good for nothing Cardinals. Red Sox six outs away. Awful times.

    good

    the stinking Beltrans lose

would have been best if that last batter had gotten aboard on then stinking Beltran would have struck out looking for the final out with his stinking bat on his stinking shoulder again

Not a Red Sox fan but glad that they kept stinking Beltran from winning a ring
