MRI results show guard has left knee sprainAssociated Press

VILLANOVA, Pa. -- Villanova guard Allan Ray has a mild sprain in his left knee and could return to play in Wednesday's game against St. John's.

"This is the best news we possibly could have gotten," coach Jay Wright said Monday.

Ray had an MRI on Monday after he left Sunday's game against Connecticut with just under three minutes to play with an injury to his left knee. He was taken to the locker room and came back with his knee wrapped in ice.

Ray, who scored 19 points in the 89-75 loss to the Huskies, walked out of Gampel Pavilion with a wrap on his knee and without a limp.

He did not practice Monday and was listed as day-to-day. Wright said he wanted to see how Ray felt the next two days before making a decision.

"If I feel I can go 100 percent, I'm definitely going to play," Ray said.

Ray is second on the team in scoring with 18.9 points and leads Villanova in 3-pointers and free-throw percentage. If Ray can't play, the Wildcats will scrap their four-guard starting lineup and start forward Dante Cunningham.

I remember the initial diagnosis on Ray Mickens' knee was a sprain, and also David Boston...

Both turned into Torn ACL's...Not trying to freak you out, but just FYI.
