Default Revis trade thread (Update: Revis to Bucs for '13 1st and cond. '14 4th)

This thread is just for published Darrelle Revis trade rumors. I figured it might be fun to look back at what the media was saying and when. I'm only including links where a source indicates that trade talks are rumored or the potential partner is inquiring.

I'll kick it off with what we've heard so far.

Jan 25th, 2013: Seahawks highly interested in Darrelle Revis.

That's where we're at right now. Notably there was no reaction from the Bucs to the floating of the rumor.

Lets be real there are alot of good corners available in FA and they brings down the value of Revis......No one wants to pay him that money and give up a ton of drafts picks.

I hope im wrong cause I would love the jets to get a 1st and maybe 3rd or 2nd and a 5th or something to start rebuilding this team! He wants too much money and holds out when he doesnt get it and no one wants to deal with that!

Shit, I was hoping he would sign with the he's so I didn't have to cheer for the jets anymore.

yeah i don't fully understand why we don't do that. can someone seriously describe why we can't trade cromartie and then sign revis to a long term deal?

Because Revis wants ALOT more money. Because Revis is a pussy and will just hold out again when doesnt get his way. Because we can get more from a Revis trade than Cro. Because we did fine without Revis last year

Default Profootballtalk: Jets have good offer on table for Revis. (All Revis Talk Here)

To view links in this forum your post count must be 10 or greater. Your post count is 0 momentarily.

Quote:
A day ago, the chances of Percy Harvin and Anquan Boldin being traded before Darrelle Revis would have been regarded as slim, at best.

But Harvin and Boldin are both changing teams, while Revis remains a Jet.

So how much longer will he be one? Possibly, not much.

A league source tells PFT that the Jets have an offer on the table for Revis. Per the source, the offer is a “good” one, both as to the compensation given to the team and the financial package that would be extended to Revis.

Another source tells PFT that, if such an offer has been made, the financial component has yet to be shared with the Revis camp. To date, the Jets and Revis have had no talks, and the Jets have not given Revis’s agents permission to talk to other teams regarding a new contract.

On Monday, owner Woody Johnson declined to discuss the situation during a press conference regarding the joint NFL-GE concussion initiative that he would answer questions about Revis “next week,” presumably at the league meetings in Arizona.

It’s believed that, during the annual March get-together, the Jets will make a strong push to work out a deal, possibly with Johnson directly negotiating terms with other owners.

Still, someone eventually needs to negotiate terms of future compensation with Revis, or whoever acquires the player will have a one-season situation.

Like I said from the beginning, he is going to retire a Jet.

The biggest reason being his hit on the cap if we were to trade him this year. Idzik is a great numbers guy. He is not going to let a trade hit our cap like that and he sure as hell is not going to let him become a free agent next year. Revis will be signed to a long contract and if any corner were to be traded, it will be Cromartie. Although, at this point, I don't think Cromartie or Revis are going anywhere

The timing makes sense, since if whoever it is trades for Revis they will be out of the CB free agent market and maybe other positions as well.

The Jets have a trade offer for Revis, not an offer to give Revis.

Very interesting, and very sad.

Wish there was more details on what the compensation would be.

I just dont understand the reasoning behind not allowing other clubs to talk to and negotiate with Revis. What is the thinking here?

I completely read this the wrong way LOL

Well, then my original thought was completely wrong. I guess we are willing to take the big hit this year to get more picks in the draft.

I wouldn't mind giving Revis away for the right price. I also read that we were in talks with Rodgers Cromartie also. I wouldn't mind Revis gone and both Cromarties playing at each end

Now back to earth. Revis is as good as gone.
