Default Osi Umenyiora Wouldn't Mind Playing for the Jets

This would definitely be interesting. I think I would like this move if this were to happen:

Quote:
When asked if the pass-rush-starved Jets are one of the teams on his immediate list, Umenyiora said, “Rex Ryan, when I was coming out of college he was with Baltimore at the time and he came down to work me out at Troy, he came to Atlanta, just me and him. We had a pretty good time out there so I’ve always enjoyed him as a coach and as a person. That might be a good fit. Hopefully it will be with the Giants.’’

He seems over the hill but he could be a good stopgap if we are unable to find a pass rusher in the draft.

I think it would definitely help us out. You can't have too many guys who can get to the QB

no. no old stop gaps. this isn't a competitive team in 2013. there is no sense paying what he will want when he will be way past prime when this team is ready to be play off contenders again

Agreed. Price is the concern if we were to pursue him. I don't think he would demand much more considering he is older. He seems to just want to stay in New York, which could very well work to our advantage.

LOL

Tell me how you really feel ;)

If every thread was just based on facts and no speculation, then there would be no forums. It's a discussion from a comment he made. That's all it is.

I don't think he is going to demand much money. I could be completely wrong though

He'd be a great addition to a team that won't even try to sign him.

Guys he's 31
In the right scheme, you'll get 3 years out of him.

i might be wrong, but i doubt osi is coming here for vet min. even if he does, no. i'd rather have that roster spot filled by someone who might develope into a usefull player for 4-5 years. every old stop gap signed is one less chance at developing a player

He'd be interesting on a cheap contract as one of several pass rushers brought in to improve the pass rush. He probably doesn't have all that much left but if he was a rotational player in the Jets 4-3/46 and the Jets had a couple of other pass rushers coming in what could it hurt?

I wouldn't mind if Osi were to retire.

Agreed.

We have been struggling for a long time with a pass rush. If he comes cheap, why not bring in a guy like that to help fill that void? Again, that's only if he comes cheap
