Default Braylon Edwards is a Jet, Again

Looks like we did go after him:

Quote:
CBSSports.com's Jason La Canfora reported Sunday that Rex Ryan and the Jets tried to trade for Edwards soon after losing Santonio Holmes for the season, according to league sources.

The Seattle Seahawks still were hopeful at the time that Edwards would pan out and told the Jets it would take "something significant" to make a trade happen, according to La Canfora. The deal never went down, but the Seahawks might regret that since they waived Edwards on Tuesday, one day after he said some not-so-nice things about the Jets.

I see a signing in the future , not this season but certainly next for Braylon and the Jets.

You think? Even after him coming out with those remarks on Twitter?

Don't think it means much to the management if they need help. He's got chemistry with Sanchez and Rex loves the guy. He'll come fairly cheap as well.

He'd most likely take Schilens spot on the roster.

it would have been much better had we acquired him in the offseason for the vet minimum instead of trading anything.

but thats our genius General Manager.

It would have probably been a conditional pick, most likely resulting in nothing.

Rex is still a big fan of Braylon, at least according to Braylon when he was on Hard Knocks and Jeff Ireland asked him 'who in the league is going to vouch for you?' and he said Rex, and Ireland said 'well I can't call Rex Ryan' lol. So I never really bought that the Jets blackballed him, at least not Rex.

Not unless we part with Holmes.

Stephen Hill needs the reps. Heyward-Bey and D Thomas had shitty first years too.

Kerley in the slot.

Schillenz four.

Late round rookie prospect.

With that said I would not be opposed to getting rid of Holmes. Still there have to be better, younger FAs next year.

That should be the lineup.

Like I said, he'd take Schilens spot. He'd fit our scheme, he has chemistry with our most likely starter next year, and obviously is a favorite of the coach.

I don't see why it's impossible at all.

With Hill looking like he's done for the season, I hope they sign Edwards this week.

It's never too late. Let the Jets prove they actually want to win.

Exactly.

For example Deion Branch sucked in Seattle, but the Pats picked him back up because he has chemistry with Brady.

Maybe they bring back Edwards and he and Sanchez reclaim that old chemistry from the past.

Braylon Edwards would be a huge boost to this offense. I don't care if he's had a poor two years in a row. Worth taking a shot.

Especially since his contract would be guaranteed and the Jets have 4 healthy receivers right now. (Kerley, Gilyard, Schilens, and White)

2 of those are practice players. 1 is a journeyman. 1 is fumble prone now but reliable.

Especially with Hill down, go grab Braylon. Screw what the media thinks. Woody should love this move, it would cause headlines
