Default Kerley for 1,000?

It seems like it has been a decade since we have had a 1,000 yard receiver. It got me thinking. The last time we had a 1,000 yard receiver was Jerricho Cotchery (currently being underused in Pitt) in 2007. He had 82 catches for 1,130 yards. Kerley is currently on pace for 58 catches and 994 yards. His yards per reception is ridiculously high right now. While I don't think he will be able to keep that up, he should see a ton more looks and receptions with Holmes out for the season, so it should even out. I love what this guy brings to the table and he is becoming "Mr.Third Down" much like J-Co. So what do you guys think, will he do it?

He's probably the only chance the Jets have for one this year, but unless the running game really gets going with consistency and Hill gets past the rookie stuff, it's a fat chance.

I like Kerley, but teams will eventually start giving him more attention in coverage. I can see him getting 800+.

He probably has a better chance than Greene getting 1000 yards.

Nice placement of the dollar sign.

I think he could do it. Would much rather have Hill do it, though.

Actually both.

I think he will. He went up against Jonathan Joseph and one that battle meanwhile he was literally our only threat. He's a baller and quickly becoming my favorite player on the team. He has great hands and is maturing as a route runner.

He is the only receiver besides Keller that actually has chemistry with Sanchez and getting Kerley the ball should be the main goal for this offense... Thinking about it, Sanchez's numbers to Kerley must be ridiculously good.

A lot of Jet fans believe Kerley is only a slot receiver, he's more than just an inside guy.

Kerley can make catches all over the field.

Kerley isn't fast , he's quick and runs very good routes.

He reminds me of Santana Moss a bit, but has better hands, and runs better routes. Moss was a lil faster. I believe in J. Kerley (J-Ker like j-Co)

Kerley def can get over a 1000 yards, but that's not an accomplishment here. Greene had over a 1000 and ppl schitted on him lol.

Keller opens things up for the Jets, he is so under valued here

Thought this was an interesting stat.

"Emerging talent Jeremy Kerley is one of nine receivers with at least 10 receptions that far (15 yards) downfield and has done so on fewer targets than anyone in the NFL. On the deep ball, the completion percentage of 76.9 between Sanchez and Kerley ranks second among 52 duos with at least 10 attempts. They trail only Peyton Manning to Demaryius Thomas."

Kerley finishes the season with 1,011 yards and 7 TD's. He has a great second half and emerges as the future replacement of Santonio.... He also makes Santonio expendable in the short-term.

Kerley is the Jets' answer to Santonio Holmes. He just can't do it alone. Like Holmes.

Unless Tanny can find some answers with certain areas of his scouting department that have been consistent failures year-in and year-out, he needs to find another job. Because he is not a personnel man.

He can start with Bradway.

I don't know, if they team plays well over the last nine, and the talent starts to emerge, you have to admit that these were good pick ups. While development is slower than we all had hoped, we are starting to get an injection of capabilities - MoWilk, Coples, Kerley, Howard, even Fat Ass Ducass is sneaking up on Slaw for the starting job.

If these guys emerge in the next year, you really can't knock down Tanny all too much.

Agree, Kerley reminds me a lot of Cotchery. Tough guy, makes big catches, seemingly low maintenance personality. I love getting this quality from less than first or second round picks...
