Default The Jets won last night

I don't care what the score was, the Jets won last night.

Mark Sanchez was 11 of 18 for 123 yards while Cam Newton was 6 of 15 for 60 yards and 2 sacks. Newton was running for his life all night long and had no time as his pocket collapsed around him. The Jets clearly had the better defense, and Ellis was smothering people out there. Austin Howard actually got the job done very very well, which is what every last Jets fan and sports reporter was focusing on in this game. Hill had 5 catches for 68 yards, those are very good numbers. The Jets actually got to the redzone without too much trouble last night. Sanchez put a little too much on that endzone toss or it was a TD.

I think the Jets should address two things before the regular season starts though... They should re-sign Plaxico Burress because they can use another experienced reciever with good hands and Plaxico is a huge endzone target. They should also sign one of the vet RT's out there as a backup just in case anything happens to Howard. Other than that the Jets look like they are ready to go. This defense looked like a monster. The offense looked good and Sanchez took some shots downfield too. We got just a little look of whats to come in the regular season last night, and what I saw was very satisfying. I think the Jets will be a team to be reckoned with this season. Things are not as bad as they appeared before last nights game. This team has some weapons and some ability. Very very satisfied with the play of Kendrick Ellis and Austin Howard. Real real happy with that.

We'll see, I agree with everything you said but have not been sold on the promise of a great season

Well a great season is something you usually start judging around Week 8. Right now I'd say the Jets look like they are bringing something to the table this season. The offense can move the ball, Sanchez will take shots downfield, Austin Howard can get the job done, and the defense is looking very heavy duty. Tom Brady can't be liking what he saw last night from this defense. Give this D-line a little more time and it's going to look a lot like the Giants D-line. You will not score on this defense that easy. I would say it's easily going to be a Top 5 defense again, only this year the D-line will be able to get to the QB. That's a big problem for the Jets opponents this year. I would not be suprised to see this team win 10 games, which is an improvement over what I thought before, which was like 7 or 8 games.

The D looked real good. Our D line is young and has nothing but upside; Landry is looking real good and talking a lot of smack, which I like. I hope the play bleeds over into the regular season, and our offense can stay on the field long enough to keep them fresh.

I have to agree, I think of defence looked fantastic last night and MS looked like he had some zip on the ball,, maybe a little to much in the red zone, Maybe a little pressure to get that first score. But over all Im impressed and feel much better. We do need to consider bringing back Plax just for the red zone for Mark. Howard played really well. Im happy. Go Jets

Other than they can't score a TD. They cant run for a 1st down on 3rd and 2. They still cant cover a back out of the backfield. They drop every other pass. Sanchez holds the ball too long . They make stupid penalties. Other than all that they are ready to go.
Seriously its a new offense. There will be growing pains. We will see.

What the Jets won:

Sanchez is indeed better then Tebow - Most Jets fans who started rooting for Tebow saw this last night. The ones who were smart quickly stepped off the Tebow ledge. We are not winning without Sanchez with the limited offensive weapons we have.

Tebow looks good on that wildcat / dropback fake pass, juke your legs, and run for big gain

We finally have a Right Tackle

3 biggest concerns coming out of last night's game:

1) Our receivers are horrible. They can't stay healthy and they can't catch.
2) I don't know if it's the blocking or if it's Greene, but our run game doesn't look any better than last year.
3) Kyle Wilson sucks.

3 biggest positives:

1) The pressure we're getting from a four man rush.
2) The new physicality that Cro is playing with.
3) Howard

Has the Jet's starting offense scored a TD yet?

Tebow didn't do well last night, but I wonder if the CS told him "No running plays, throw the ball". He looked off his game at times, like we wanted to tuck it and run, but then scrambled and looked around more. I thought there were a half dozen plays were he could have made decent gains running, the INT play was one of them.

Holy shit. I just looked. You haven't scored a touchdown yet this preseason. In three games! Doesn't that concern you? I'm not trying to be a douche, but if that was the case for the Bills, our board would be freaking out about how we aren't going to win a single game this year. Not making threads about winning games we lost. Crazy.

Kyle Wilson is a bust. I have absolutely never seen him close to a receiver. If he has an ounce of trade value, I'd ship him out. He should actually be cut.

I agree the receivers look dreadful.

Running backs don't look much better, but can't tell if that's a product of an offensive line with no push or just mediocre running backs.

Coples looks good, but it ain't good when the head coach is calling out the top pick for his work ethic.

Right now, this is an eight-win team at best, probable six-win team.

We're reduced to reaching for moral victories now? The Jets lost last night period. The only two bright spots were Landry and Howard. Sanchez played like a competent QB because of Howard's effectiveness but the offense, on whole, is still a work in progress and if Dolphin fans are right, we'd better get used to a lot of games like we saw last night. Hill is scary and reminds me a lot of Braylon with the dropsies. Holmes slanting over the middle again looks good but when he gets drilled again in the ribs, we'll see what he's made of. We have no one on the roster that any DC should fear on offense however, they'd better watch which side of the field Revis and Landry are on.

Its a typical Ryan team. Great on Defense, anemic on Offense. Perhaps Rex is trying to recreate the 2000 Ravens defense. He's succeeded in re-creating the 2000 Ravens offense.

I don't really care about scoring TD's in the preseason because the offense is still working out new combinations and testing out new plays with new personnel. What's import is to see the Jets move the ball, to see Sanchez actually hook up for a pass deeper than 15 yards, to see the O line protect, to see the D line get pressure. We saw all of that last night in a game where the speed and hitting were close to regular season form with the 1st stringers.

The Jets are gonna be okay... That's what I took away from last night's game. Now we get Plax back and maybe sign McKenzie or another FA veteran RT and we're good to go in 2 weeks.

Every other team is scoring touchdowns and they are working out new combinations and testing new plays and players as well.

These "TD's" you're speaking of, they count for what? A TD scored in preseason is useful for exactly what again? The important thing is Sanchez and Sparano got the team into the redzone and had their chances to score a TD. The Jets had their chances last night, it's not like they couldn't get the ball into scoring position, they did.

Success in preseason is evaluated much differently than the regular season. Last night was a success on both sides of the ball.
